It’s been quite a revealing time as to whether people understand basic operational logistics or not. Or even just like…how society functions.

lol yeahhhh, but then again the userbase on this site skews young and underemployed, so i’m guessing there aren’t a lot of people who have a working knowledge of how exhausting it is to coordinate hundreds of moving parts all at once with perpetual time-sensitive deadlines.

Well, but I called this out in the context of fandom like a year and a half ago and people kept insisting that was nuts, even though I started researching the bullshit arguments they were using and those results kept looping me back to white nationalist message boards.

Sure enough, I started running that list of fake IR accounts through search on not just my tumblr but those of my friends today, and what do I find? A post by an OP who was indeed a Russian propaganda creator, perpetuating that exact same colorism trash that resulted in the very real harassment and stalking of an actor for doing her job.

Oh man...did you go to a full studio or just ballet? I get full-on dance mom flashbacks on occasion.

I did neither, actually! I worked in the industry for almost ten years on the non-artistic side, and then I’ve also been along for the ride as the Smol went from tiny student to kickass professional.

It just really makes me laugh when most non-dancers reblog ballet stuff because tumblr is so US-centric and like... there are only two companies in the entire country that are even competitive globally.

baby steps I guess...

it’s just frustrating, because it’s not even like there are predictable words or phrases i can blacklist. there’s just a constant cycle of false information or this idea that most people in the world can’t understand psychological dysfunction when the reality is that 50% of adults have a diagnosable mental illness at some point in life. it’s just that the vast majority of problems are treatable and you get better, hence you no longer display symptoms. meanwhile, tumblr is like wallowing in a pit of anti-vaxxers but for mental health.

i would really not like to unfollow people over it, but i also don’t need that kind of junk in my life. (and i’m talking about the teenager-sounding text posts that are like I’m Morally Superior to Healthy Folks, not personal posts about anyone’s individual life)
