“You could always ask him”
“It’s going to take a lot more than sugar to knock me down, sweetie” Monroe, who was now a skinny fifty-two year old, hummed as he beamed up at her and clutched his tea in his hands to warm them.

“You could always ask him”
“It’s going to take a lot more than sugar to knock me down, sweetie” Monroe, who was now a skinny fifty-two year old, hummed as he beamed up at her and clutched his tea in his hands to warm them.
“I’ve missed you so much Pops!”
“Awh, I’ve missed you too sweetie. Been hard without my partner in crime, can’t get away with anything these days!”
“I’m sure you try though, not that Papa..” her fond smile and tight squeeze on her farther suddenly fell as her eyes snapped open “How’s he doing? He’s... Getting better, right?”
Stitches let out a short, significant laugh as he lowered his, not so, little girl to her feet.
Moving into the living room and dropping her bag, Valentine’s face lit up into the purest look of adoration as her farther, Stitches Rudolph, stood before her with his arms open, the same fond look on his face.
“Cupcake!” He sang in his usual, but now somehow weathered, tone “Where’ve you been? Not causing too much trouble I hope”
“Not without you Pops!” she hummed back as she ran and jumped up to hug him, her tip toes just barely scraping the ground as she hung around her gentle giant of a farther’s shoulders.
Smiling up at her brother and thanking him for the muchly needed coffee, Valentine braced herself for the hundreds of questions that her dads’ had about Basil.
“What’s his favourite sweetie? No! How tall is he? No! What about-”
“Let’s start with the basics, lovebug..” Monroe cooed, bringing Stitch’s excitement down a few pegs so they cold get necessary information “What’s his name and where is he from sweetie?”
“His name is Basil and he’s from Manchester, but he’s been living in St Claire for about ten years now. That's where Gramps was from, right?”
“And his Dad” Monroe added, fondly remembering the two of them “..He’s been there for ten years? That’s quite a while.. How old is he?”
Stitches Rudolph, Continued
"Hello!!" she practically sings "Is this Papa or Pops?"
"It’s both of us!" Stitches cooes, his weathered voice still remaining as merry and sweet as ever "I've managed to put you on speaker phone, so Papa can hear you too"
"Hello cupcake!" Monroe added in his ecstatic, cheeky voice.
The usual conversation ensued; Both ends of the line asking how the other was, filing them in on how their days went and finally the routine question of "Have you spoken to your brother yet?"
