I would like to thank Stockbridge City Manager Michael Harris for his three years of service and for helping to possibly make 2016 the most successful legislative year in the history of Stockbridge. We annexed the Jodeco Atlanta South $300 million mall, we passed a Hwy 138 protective overlay to raise standards in Stockbridge, we established a 50% brick requirement on all commercial buildings, we banned any new check cashing or pawnshops in Stockbridge, we passed a downtown master plan including a new amphitheater, we approved fiber optics for the city, we passed a police department feasibility study, we opened the Stockbridge library on Saturdays, we invested $30,000 in maintaining the expressway exits and additional funding cutting right of way grass in Stockbridge while many areas in Henry County struggle with grass cutting, we added an Economic Development Director, we change the city charter to allow the citizens to elect our new Mayor after the previous Mayor resigned instead of the city council including a 50% plus one majority vote now required to elect a Mayor going forward and so much more. Mr. Harris played a pivotal roll in leading the city of Stockbridge over the past few years and he will be missed!
