Today I explained what a stone baby is to a group of coworkers. A stone baby occurs when a fetus dies during pregnancy and the body is unable to absorb it, and so the fetus calcifies and remains in the womb for an indefinate amount of time. Sometimes it can take 20+ years for women to notice, and the stone babies are only discovered when women go to the hospital for a different reason, mostly abdominal pain. It’s fascinating. Google it.
