Stop the Traffik Analysis
Human trafficking is the social issue I have chosen to do this project on. There are many human trafficking awareness pages however I chose this one because I like the content that they post. I have been following their Instagram since 2017.

Stop the traffik’s main goal is to educate people on what human trafficking is, ways to prevent it, and what to do if they see that it is happening. Not only that Stop the Traffik wants to use technology to uncover crimes globally. Over 61,000 human trafficking cases have been reported through their database. This organization helps uncovers thousands of crimes each year. In addition to that they trained over 20,000 people in human trafficking prevention and recognition, their campaign has been delivered across three continents in twenty-nine different countries reaching more than six million people.

Modes of communication used are: There are multiple types used on the website and social media platform. The first form would be visual I say this because on their social media each post had a some type of pictures or a video (not using sounds). The next form would linguistics on their website there are passages explaining ways to get involved or even what human trafficking is. Not only that but on social media their are small paragraphs for each post. The rhetorical appeal for their website/ social media would be mostly logos because on their website there are are graphs and various forms of statistics that can be seen in their annual report. for example I started following them on Instagram in 2017 after a post saying how, “1 in 4 victims of trafficking are children” I thought that was interesting and decided to share it. The next appeal would be Ethos because on their social media they will use quotes of popular activists or even survivors to help their credibility over their topic.

Stop the traffik is an organization that want to limit the human trafficking by educating communities and business. They want to equip people with the skills and tools to stop or report crimes that they have witnessed.
The first critera is my organization’s website and social media does a great job with educating their audience about human trafficking. For example on their website they have a section where they explain the types of exploration, signs of human trafficking ,and how to respond when you see these signs.
The second criteria is they are very good at making sure their website and other social media platforms are updated. For example on their social media pages such as; Facebook, Instagram, Youtube and Twitter. On these platforms they post at least twice a week with new information that can be used to inform their followers.
The third criteria is on their social media platforms there are posts that speak out for other movements including; #ENDSARS,# Savethechildren, and #Welcomingrefugees. My examples are relevant because by using tags of other popular issues it brings more attention to the rest of the page. People are more likely to follow if they think that your content is universal. They have multiple platforms of social media. They incorporate their website in the majority of posts. If people truly want to learn more they have the opportunity to do so by clicking on the links provided.

However there are some things that could make their overall goal more obtainable by getting the messages to more viewers.
Conclusion: The mission of “Stop the Traffik” is to educate communities, business, and individuals on human trafficking, identify it and lastly how to properly respond if they saw it. This movement or organization started in 2006 unfortunately compared to other organizations they lack the followers. Without a lot of followers it will be harder to get the message across to society, making the overall goal father to achieve more than they thought. There are some obstacles that the organization has or will face. One of them is that human trafficking was a huge social issue that was brought to the limelight in 2016-17 unfortunately since then there are other social issue that have caught the medias attention that most seem to think that is more important than human trafficking. Another obstacle would be their are multiple other human trafficking movements and organizations that might have bigger followings and unless your audience is truly into activism there is no need for following two groups with the same goal. However there are more steps that can be taken to ensure that they get closer to their goal. One step would be to change up your content. Adding something that really shocks people, not just statistics if you use videos and pictures to get people to share about the social issue will bring more attention to you page and in the long run more attention to the social issue. The next step that could be taken is to use celebrities to help get the word out, studies show that when celebrities repost something it brings more attention to the issue. This would be a great way to gain a larger following. The last step is to know your audience most of the time. Teens and children are the ones that view content online make it easier for them to understand and use content that engages them. Tik Tok has become one of the largest social media platforms that talks about serious social issues and uses that as an advantage.
