It was a peaceful morning, always was in the desert, and even though it was a long drive to visit the X-men, Ororo never minded for a second, only because her and her boyfriend of a year and a half, Forge. Forge was able to make the tiny house he originally had into everything they wanted, thanks to his understanding of technology on a level that Ororo will never get, he was able to turn it into a true home. With the AC always on in the summer, a pretty well-maintained electrical unit that gave it power, and safe water from a filtered tap, it was a life Ororo could always admire; one of peace, of no drama.

On that summer morning, it was peaceful, as usual. Forge got up first, acutely aware of Ororo cuddling on top of him in a thin light blue nightgown.

"Ororo, darling, wake up." Forge softly stated, running a hand through her curly white hair, his calloused hand moving in a particular way to see Ororo's face fully. It wouldn't take long for her to wake up, it was a mini routine at this point.

"I'm up, my love." She mused, leaning into his hand, her hands running up and down Forge's sides, feeling the skin there, her eyes would slowly open, blinking a couple of times before fully being awake. Her soft blue eyes landed on Forge's brown eyes, which always seemed so yearning for her in the mornings.

"Stop being so beautiful," Ororo commented, unable to contain her love for him, staring into his eyes with a smile that reached her ears. "I mean it, waking up to see you like this, all loving and just... perfect."

Forge would chuckle a bit in response, loving her morning banter. "I only learned from my amazing girlfriend." Forge responded, kissing her forehead, "Now let's get ready while the morning is young."

Forge would shift, starting to get out of bed, Ororo not far behind, getting off their bed before Forge. "I'll start boiling the water." She said, kissing Forge's forehead before retreating into the kitchen. Forge would watch her leave for the kitchen, before looking at the right nightstand, opening it, and grabbing what he's been hiding for about 2 months. A nice sleek black box with a carefully picked ring, that ring cost him a fortune. With a fairly big blue opal in the middle, with small, perfect pearls lining the ring. He thought about it, I mean, why not? It's a very casual way of proposing, maybe too casual. In the morning, in the comforts of their porch, while the sun rises. The only issue was that they would be in their sleepwear.

"Oh well," Forge muttered, stuffing the ring in the pocket of his shorts, just as he heard the kettle steam. He got up from the bed and walked into the kitchen finally, seeing Ororo there, pouring hot water into their respective mugs, tea bags visible. Forge went up behind her and hugged her, putting his head on her shoulder.

"Someone's affectionate." Ororo mused, leaning back. "Of course, only with my lovely goddess," Forge responded, kissing her neck reverently, gentleness in every kiss he put on her skin. Forge would move one of his hands to grab his mug, and slowly drink out of it. "You always steep my tea the way I like it, somehow, even I can't do that," Forge stated, taking another longer sip. "Now let's go outside, nice and cool, and see a sunrise." He patted her hip softly, moving outside to the porch, where their chairs were, 3 of them, actually, 2 normal ones and then a swinging one.

They would sit like that for a while, talking about X-Men news, world news, what they would need to buy at the grocery store next week, everything.

Then Forge saw it; the opening, Ororo finished her cup, and was now just against the railing of their porch, watching the sunrise come from behind the mountains.

"You know, these years have been great with you, Ororo, and I mean it, you've really brought a spark to my life that tinkering with machinery could bring." Forge started, standing up, now fiddling with the ring box with his mechanical hand. "And I know with the X-Men, and everything going on, that our lives can get difficult, so I was wondering something important." He got in front of her, before sighing, getting on his mechanical knee, looking up at Ororo, pulling out the ring box, opening it. "Ororo, will you please mar-" Forge was cut off by Ororo laughing, and nodding.

"Yes Forge, you don't even need to ask, yes, I'll be your wife," Ororo stated happily, grabbing Forge and flying up a bit, in an euphoric bliss, finally, Forge proposed.

Forge would look at her with loving eyes, before leaning in and kissing her, still mid-air thanks to Ororo's strong grip on him. "Thank god, oh I thought it wouldn't be appropriate to propose," Forge commented, leaning into her neck, before slipping the ring on her finger, sighing.

This was indeed, a perfect, peaceful morning, Forge and Ororo, watching the sunrise, not as boyfriend and girlfriend anymore, but as each other's fiancée.

I wonder if Forge will go with Storm back to the X-men and join the team and get his own part in the intro like Nightcrawler. The X-men are going up against a weird future robot and having someone whose mutant power is being able to look at any machine and understand how it works would probably be very useful. Or he could look at some of Cables weapons and would know how to build more weapons that could take out Bastions robots.

I'm fascinated by Forge/Storm in Lifedeath... definitely got Pygmalion vibes. I feel like I don't know much about Forge besides him being the Hephastus who builds everything when you need it lol. Power dampening collar? Ask Forge.

On another note, as a horse chick, I feel so seen lol.

There's something really compelling about their love story... not merely the tragedy of how it starts out, but just the romantic juxtaposition of Maker meeting Windrider... master of machines meeting the primeval mother nature...

I feel like they meet on some really beautiful symbolic ground where they both learn so much about themselves through the other, by opening up uncharted territories in one another. I'm sad they broke up. 😔

PS: I'm not a horse chick, but I really loved that scene. 😊

Presumably you can't turn on this communication system by accident...?

Because you've supplied so much tech to the X-Men – I fear you're going to suffer so much psychic damage every time Ororo mentions your name.

Unless... she never mentions you at all.
