Applefall turned to Colorpaw, the younger GraniteClan cat. She left the remembrance gathering area some time ago to go do some other things at the moment, and perhaps find Crabpaw. But if the cat wanted to go hunt, then why the hell not? They could help her out with finding her apprentice around here.

Like I mentioned before, there’s absolutely no reason at all to become antagonistic.  People do not respond positively to being attacked and become even more unreasonable than they might naturally be for their own defense.  Further, I have what I feel to be solid evidence in support of my side of the argument, so what possible use would getting snippy and loud serve me?  It would only weaken my position.

Yes, he has been very clear on that from the get-go.  He opened up his entire response on the matter by acknowledging that he’s upset about getting accusations of plagiarism directed at him.  Y’know, after he admitted to plagiarizing from Xenos.

I'm not exactly happy myself either.  Back when Dennybutt got Joen stolen and my own work was also stolen by proxy, I was pretty damn furious over that matter both for my own sake and for Denny.  I'm upset on this one as well, but that doesn't mean one can't behave in a civil and reasonable matter.

Why does he have to show consideration to you, and change his character design, simply because it looks similar to yours? Why can't you show consideration to him, and change your character design, simply because it looks similar to his? I admit you have a point about referencing the references sheet, but honestly this entire decidable with Storm has left me confused as to why he needs to change his character, simply because of similarities.

In his defense, StormsGoneWrong has not asked me to change Merriweather at all.  He just wants me to ignore the glaring visual similarities between our characters and the fact that he admitted to plagiarizing another person in that same original reference pic post as being at all relevant.  I’m sure you can understand why it is difficult for me to trust the word of someone who pretty much says “I stole this stuff, but I totally didn’t steal that stuff”.

Legalities aside as that’s a whole huge mess on its own and I’m not about to even consider broaching the undoubtedly ludicrous legal ramifications of bouncing MLP OCs against each other, it’s a matter of courtesy and respect.  Like I mentioned in my previous posts, if someone makes a character that seems like a knock-off of an already existing character, it’s in their best interest to change it.  Respect for the original artist, common courtesy as a person, or even simply not wanting to have the cloud of plagiarism (intentional or not) hanging over their head.

Heck, me personally?  I’ve made mention just recently that I get mad about seeing ideas I have pop up in other places before I have a chance to do them myself, because it means I run the risk of being seen as a knock-off.  If I’m making characters, I would not want to make them in a manner that closely resembles others’ work.  That may just be my own personal opinion and desires on display, but I prefer to have characters that are unique and convey my own artistic merit.  Closely resembling someone else’s work takes away from that at my own detriment.
