What're your thoughts on perfect attendance? At my school there are two awards given out for attendance - Perfect Attendance (having missed no school) and Great Attendance (having missed less than 5 days.) I usually strive for Great attendance but I pretty much fail every year by a day or two. I know it's supposed to look good on a college application, but I have really bad anxiety and sometimes I need the days off. How important do you think attendance is? I always try but I can never get it.
hi angel!! i think it’s important to some degree so if you can achieve it then absolutely go for it, but obviously if you have extenuating circumstances to deal with it makes that a lot more difficult. as good as it may be to have perfect attendance (which is good, don’t get me wrong, but it’s not a huge deal imo? colleges don’t accept people simply based on their attendance - there are things that are more important like their college admissions statement, their grades etc) i don’t think you should sacrifice your mental health/wellbeing in general over it. if you need a day off to take care of yourself, then absolutely take that day off and relax!! your wellbeing is a priority, and taking a few days off school is no big deal as long as you try your best to catch up on the missed work. it’s not going to be a deal breaker for colleges so don’t worry ✨ they care much more about your personal statement!
august 14, 2018 I go back to school tomorrow and my first period is chemistry, where we’re gonna start learning the periodic table of elements. I figured I’d get ahead and start memorizing them.
