[Sighing deeply I reach for my suitcase. I wasn’t really in the mood for yet /another/ of those crazy conventions but lately... things had been pretty tough.. I’d been offered so much work and all I wanted was a good long rest. “You never know, some time away may just be what the Doctor ordered”. Chuckling at the irony of my comment I grab my old costume from the wardrobe and pack it tightly inside the case. Opening the bedside table I grab my passport and take one final look around before heading out the door. I nervously fiddled with my phone all through the journey to the airport, half listening to the taxi driver ramble on about his kids loving the show. I may have travelled in time but I damn well hated to fly anywhere.
Getting through the Airport was the usual drama full of kids wanting autographs and asking if the Daleks were close at hand. Normally I would love the attention, as any actor would of but I just wanted to get on the damn plane. I shook the hand of the hostess as I sat down and put on my best Doctor grin, hearing the usual cries of “Oi David! Did your TARDIS break down again?!” I settled down and grabbed a paper out of my laptop bag, holding it over my face to block out the kids laughing and pointing. After a while of reading all the usual depressing news stories my attention turned to the window. There was nothing but sea, blue sky and, just out of view something that reminded me of an island I had seen in that show... “What was it called?” I asked myself. I shook my head knowing it would come to me and settled back in my seat to get some well needed sleep. My eyelids became heavy then... blackness.
My eyes dart open and I realise I’m staring at the sun, its rays are so strong I reach for my sunglasses.... I pause suddenly realising something has drastically changed. Something at the back of my mind is screaming at me to remember, but I can’t. I jump to my feet and see my luggage just beside me almost as if someone had placed it there carefully... intentionally even. I glance at my surroundings, all I can see is sand and trees. The sun is so hot, I take off my shirt, folding it up and placing it in my bag, reaching for a half drunk bottle of water before carefully zipping it up again.
I take a few sips from the bottle and pour the rest of my liquid over my head, staring out to sea and wondering if there’s any life in the distance. I turn around and throw my bag on my back, staring at the jungle in front of me. Reaching for my suitcase i begin walking towards the trees in search of shelter....] (Solo Ends)
