Or maybe they’d eat the books. Or burn them. Honestly, Manny wasn’t too sure what to expect but something thought, something counts. Right? 

“Surprised half of these are still in publication.” He paused to hold one book with a bear family on it. “Don’t think I’ve seen this one since I was a kid.”

he doesn't know if that outlook on life is supposed to make him sad or not. to him, there's nothing more important that other people. but it's all about different perspectives, isn't it? a person can't be expected to be social just because he enjoys it. and though he doesn't understand introverts, that doesn't mean that he doesn't value them. if everyone were like him, then the world would just be a cacophony of noise, and no-one would ever get anything done. ‘ i think that'd depend on the book...or the person. ’ people are just easier. he can read a person better than he can read a book, because it takes for less concentration to do so.

he looks up from the book that he'd been flicking through when she addresses him, the one that he hadn't really been taking in and had just been using to pass the time whilst he waited. ‘ of course i stayed. ’ the book is closed and set back where he found it, and then he rises to his feet. ‘ we made plans, so here i am. i dunno if you actually meant them, but i'll take anyone up on an invitation, serious or not. ’ his hands find their way into his jeans pockets, and he rocks back onto his heels, trying his best to look casual, as opposed to how he actually feels right now, which is nervous that he's not wanted for company.
