Going West: The Poet's Yew
Going West: The Poet’s Yew
The rain continued as we walked from the Abbey to the church, the sky heavy and grey. Even the shelter of the trees was not enough to protect the lens from the constant drops, but it began to ease as we sought the solitary yew in the churchyard, beside which the mediaeval poet, Dafydd ap Gwilym, is though to be buried, although there is a dispute as to whether Strata Florida or Talley Abbey holds…

Strata Florida
If anyone wants a really interesting Monastic Complex/Abbey to look at, have a look at Strata Florida...
It owned the most land of any Abbey. Farm and house built on top of it ca. C15th + Fishponds, Leats, mills, gate-houses, standing remains. Iron age and Roman archaeology scattered around its lands as well...👌
Strata Florida Abbey
Thoroughly intriguing, gorgeous dream pop/shoegaze cocktail with somersaulting bass and gossamer vocals from Strata Florida (aka Louise Trehy from Swallow)!
