❤️Moodboard about Guardian from Stray❤️
Attack on @dragon-lunatic :D Added a lot of little bits for fun. Kinda sad that the text which i wrote in the stray language isn't visible.. oh well it is what it is, mah fault for shading it like that
Quick post for my favorite game of all time 🥹
🌻🌻🌻 (You get three things to tell! Go go go!)
Three??? Oh geez
Thankfully I just remembered something... I have complaints about Stray/lh and it just so happens. that there's 3 main ones I have to mention
The first two are jokingly here because I love yelling about science. The last one... it's genuine. Anyways you're all free to add your own thoughts on this :3 it's finally time to talk about this...
🌻 nr. 1: the Zurks.
Bacteria?? I think NOT-
Something about this struck me as weird when it was first revealed in the game (and I noticed that much sooner than Blazer's betrayal... Priorities I guess/silly). Zurks are most definitely multicellular organisms. They have eyes that seem to be as complex as human eyes which ??? bacteria most certainly don't have??? And don't even get me started on the Sewers.
I know there's bacteria that can process metals so perhaps creating metal-eating bacteria isn't unbelievable. However, if you'd like to go from a bacteria to whatever the Zurks are, you'd need some serious evolution to happen and that takes millions, if not billions of years considering you'd have to start from unicellular organisms. And you mean to tell me that nothing on Earth changed between now and when the humans disappeared if it took billions of years to get to the current point in the game?? The cats and other organisms didn't evolve, the city is still right where it was before, no climate change at all... ??
There's a lot more I could say on this, but I don't know enough (yet) to make a more realistic version of the Zurks. And it's very obvious that the creators didn't worry about being absolutely 100% accurate to science and just needed an enemy for the player. I'm not saying this is absolutely a necessary change to make if you want the game to be good (after all, I'm a fan of Minecraft) but I do love to get into the science of media that I love :3 If I ever make scientifically accurate Zurks, they probably won't be used even in my AU. This is all just for fun. And the sewers having eyes, as much as it's my biggest issue with its design, succeeded in the one thing it was made to do - to disturb the player.
🌻 nr. 2: the plants.
Where did you all get chlorophyll.
Grow lights are a thing, sure, but it doesn't seem like they really have those in Walled city. And while plants can grow in the dark, they're not likely to survive for as long. I'm no plant expert though (and just failed my plant anatomy exam... again) and some kind of genetic modification was implied to have been done on the city's plants, which could mean anything. And it's never clear how this allows the plants to make chlorophyll in the dark (I kind of doubt that the neon signs have the right wavelengths and distance from the plants for them to use it... but what do I know).
Similarly to the previous point, this complaint is even MORE unnecessary and, again, I just like to try and figure out the correct science of things if I can. It has no impact on the story nor how much I like the game, this is purely for shits and giggles🙂↕️
But for my last complaint, I will get a little more serious
🌻 nr. 3: Antvillage.
This area feels rather wasted. You have the ability to just pass right through the place and talk to exactly one bot along the way... That's such a bummer really. Antvillage has so much more to it, so many characters and many details to simply find and look at if nothing else. But even that feels wrong.
In the Slums and Midtown you have no choice but to interact with your environment and the characters and visit all the different places in order to progress in the game, and Antvillage doesn't have that. It's just a place with so much potential for a story, which in the end only really serves for giving you directions in a slightly more unique way than putting a sign post. I saw somebody refer to Zbaltazar as "a glorified sign post" and... I can see it. Not because he's very clearly paralyzed/otherwise disabled and can't move like the other characters so far (and to say that this is an issue is.... wrong, to put it lightly), but because the game doesn't seem to do much to include him in the story.
Antvillage remains a mystery in canon. It's a place between the Slums and Midtown that seems to be separate and safe from both of the major dangers in the game (though not completely, as stated by someone in Antvillage). Why does it exist? Who made it? How? Where did all these bots come from? How old is this place? Were any humans here or was it something built entirely by robots? (Actually the pod thingy that gives a memory back to B-12 might help answer this one...)
But my biggest question is, why does Antvillage exist. The game provides no answer, and while this works perfectly for me because I got to put my own headcanons in it that fit my story, it still feels like such a waste. What if it wasn't so easy to leave Antvillage because Clementine decided to block the way she used so that the Sentinels never find this place? What if Zbaltazar doesn't know Clementine's address and you have to figure it out yourself? What if he needs your help with something, and this something also unlocks a new path into Midtown that you can use to progress in the story?
It's hard to find any info on Antvillage's development so if you have anything interesting to share, please do🙏 As for its lore and characters, they play a big part in Rusted gold so I have quite some headcanons to share. But I'm still planning on rewriting this chapter in canon in my style to see if I can come up with anything to make it richer in story and such. This will likely differ from my AU's interpretation and that's because my AU doesn't follow the canon to a T. But all this will be done once I am free of my exams and also Art fight/silly
Thanks for reading my rant, adios :3
