Zappa going too crude gets wearisome (and ages horribly), Zappa going too classy gets a bit oblique, but Zappa merging crude and classy in a perfect whole is the best.
Strictly Genteel
I've never really sat down and listened thoroughly to this song, until now. All throughout, it makes me think of a very heartwarming goodbye, remembering the good and the bad, but mostly the good, of a long and rich friendship. The different stages in the song makes me think of how much people develop and grow in their life. Some parts are a bit tense, some loud, others a bit more gentle, or complex, etc. Its a beautiful instrumental song. Play it at my fucking funeral!
Frank Zappa - Strictly Genteel (Live 1981)
I've been listening to a lot of FZ again. He always spurs creativity in me. I love the applications of conceptual continuity in his works. It definitely informs my creative endeavors. "Music is the best."
