I have talked about these specific lines that Juno says regarding his cooperation with Grandmaster Meio, but I've never drawn them out, so I'm going to do that to quench my thorst over the thoughts. ( ' p');
It really intrigues me how Juno seems fully aware that Meio tampered with his memory, and yet he is still willing to help him. For me, it's less about the usual pattern of villains allying then proceeding to backstab each other. It's the way Juno blatantly mentions it. He knows he's being used, quite immediately, and who's doing so. Yet, despite all that, it doesn't matter? Juno's primary directive has remained intact.
If that's the case, why didn't Meio go any further and control every inch of him? He is all about control. His followers are totally devout, viewing him as god-like. And he is capable of manipulating so much-- including technology. Would it be too much work? Or did he pick up on that "polite" demeanor while digging through Juno's system that he felt this thing is bound to offer its aid as thanks for salvaging it?
Perhaps I'm giving him too much credit. Or perhaps the dynamic between a power-hungry entity who sees all as beneath him and a machine wired to obedience is something I want to gnaw over.
