Importance of History as a discipline
History is a discipline that is deeply oriented to interpretation. It is impossible for students to recreate the past and study its effects to understand the past. History teaches a wide range of skills, including critical thinking, ability to analyze, the ability to process and synthesize vast amounts of information. It is an essential discipline to understand our roots. It help us to analyze current scenarios by connecting it with past studies. Past has a major influence on present thus understanding history has many benefits:
Encourage research skills: Studying the discipline of history make us involve in a process of research. History is not limited to any one books, there will be connected events and happenings in associated with any major incident in past. There will be numerous interpretations provided by various intellectuals and historians on a same topic. A history student have to refer thoroughly for getting clear visions.
Learn ourselves: If you want to know who you are, you must establish a sense of self. Learning how you fit into the larger narrative of your country or the global community might help you better comprehend your own particular history. People are what makes history more than names, dates, and events; it's those individuals who can tell you how your country, city, or town came to be.
