Blog post 5 – How does the use of ICT in the classroom impact the learning in the classroom?
The use of ICT in the classroom places all learners on equal footing, as given the right instructions, students can achieve the same level of success. Furthermore, the use of ICT in assessment gives students the opportunity to spread their wings in terms of creative learning, and allows for less judgemental feedback by the teacher. This is a motivating concept for students, and increases their self-esteem and confidence to delve into their interests to enhance their learning.
ICT in the classroom provides students with an impressive skill set, due to learning various software programs and multimedia platforms, and although the software tools will undergo a number of changes and advancements before students enter the workforce, students will have acquired a basic understanding of how various programs work, and be confident about being able to learn the new software applications.
ICT provides support which gives students the confidence to explore new learning areas that they would otherwise not explored, and allows teachers to set more complex tasks as students feel more confident to handle them. All of these aspects foster the view of the positive effect ICT has in the classroom on student’s learning.
