God damn it Studielink
Studielink is the government website on which students can enroll in college and universities. (not online studies though)
It's not just one of many ways, it's the only way.
Which is a pretty good idea. Everything about starting or finishing studies in 1 place. Signing up for studies, signing out. All goes through Studielink. (studyfinancing and free public transport are done via DUO, another goverment group)
Anyways, Studielink has a tendancy to be made of utter shitfail.
Last year I tried to sign up for Information Technology, which is basically Computer Science only everything was in English and there was 1 extra course on internationalisation. Cool, so I signed up via Studielink.
Then like 2 weeks before the beginning of the schoolyear I got an email from Avans, the college which offered the study, saying that although they had enough people who had signed up for the study there were not enough people who had actually confirmed their payment. I was like awh hell, why does no one confirm their fucking payment ffs guys.
No confirmed payments, no study.
Well Shit, son.
So I signed out of Information Technology and quickly signed up for regular Computer Science and confirmed my payment.
A few days before the start of the school year, I got an email from Avans. If I would be so kind to confirm my payment.
Wait wut?
So I went back to Studielink and it didn't have the button for 'Confirm Payment' I could only look back at the settings and it said I had already confirmed. Owkey. I thought that maybe Avans had just gotten Studielinks message a bit late so I went on my merry way.
Another couple of days later I got another, more threatening email from Avans telling me to confirm the fucking payment.
I had to go to the studentadministration and get a PAPER giro and send it to my bank to allow Avans to take the college payment off my account.
Studielink had never even sent my confirmation.
So we can deduce from this that Studielink's immense fail managed to get an entire year of a study cancelled while there were plenty of people who wanted to enrol.
Now, I signed out of Computer Science almost 2 months ago because fucking hell I can get better quality teaching from watching a cat licking itself clean. I signed out, asked for a partial refund of my college money and went on my happy way again.
Few days ago I got a letter from Avans, basically saying: "Well shit, son. You aren't getting enough points in your study and we're gonna give you a binding negative study advice. Meaning we're gonna kick you out and you can't come back in."
It seems like Studielink never sent Avans my request to sign out of Computer Science.
QUALITY GOVERNMENT STUDYMANAGEMENT IS QUALITY.
