tucker had a crush on ruston when they were younger, but it was around the same time that rust + cole stopped being friends, and cole started hanging out with tucker and that friend group more, and tucker didn't really ask why cole didn't hang out with rust anymore but he'd decided to himself that rust was off limits. because cole was his best friend now and his friendship was so quickly important to him, and whatever happened between them wasn't his business but if cole had decided he didn't like rust anymore, then tucker wouldn't let himself go there.

unfortunately as they grew up, tucker found himself more attracted to rust but hinting that to cole almost felt like a betrayal to him, especially since cole always seemed a little annoyed whenever tucker would tip toe around the subject. and his feelings for cole were stronger anyway, so the rust of it all didn't really matter.

disappointment, he can't really acknowledge it when he feels it because he doesn't know what to do with it / feels like he's supposed to just accept things that happen to him instead of standing up for himself or taking a more active role in basically anything.

🕷️ SPIDER - what is their biggest fear? do they have any irrational / mundane fears?

being irrelevant / feeling useless. it's why he overdoes the whole 'cole's bodyguard' act, because it feels like his place in the group so he wants to do it well, wants to feel 'important' in some way, wants to bring the friend group value. which is ridiculous but have you seen their friend group... it's incredibly fucked up, like no wonder his views are so skewed. he'd tell you he's not afraid of anything but he squirms around spiders, needles, and tight/enclosed spaces. he's also afraid of his mother and he should be.

🔧 WRENCH - are they good at fixing relationships? or do they tend to avoid doing so?

he is so avoidant. for as big as he is, he really treats himself like he is so small, letting people walk all over him all the time. he's kind of offering himself up for cole to do it but cole doesn't really take it. but matt and ronnie are different — hooking up with both of them while they cheat on each other and very well aware that neither of them have much respect for him and that he's not getting much out of it, he'd rather just keep doing it than end it because at least they're kind of paying attention to him. when tucker says his friends kind of treat him like a joke, i know these 2 are the biggest culprits, which is kind of exactly why he got involved with both of them, like it was going to make anything better. i think it really just brings more turmoil to the relationships and he kind of just makes it worse along the way. so, no, he's not good at fixing relationships. he thinks he's attempting and typically goes about it all wrong + makes it worse.

“Tucker roared, reaching his free hand out and grabbing hold of Frendo by the costume’s coveralls. Pom-pom buttons shook and Tucker swung down hard, the clown’s momentum from pushing back off the TV sending their weight down through the coffee table. It was an extreme wrestling move, something that would have been badass if it weren’t so painful, the glass shards so sharp.”

tucker getting kind of excited about how cool this move is is like…. I can’t explain it but this is why I say the one of the few valid movie tucker things is that he absolutely would try to kill a clown with a nerf gun. you know

just love the way that cole and tucker are immediately set apart but this preview of what their dynamic is like. and again with cole's introduction, the most important part: he wore the fatigue like makeup🤍

silly little tucker lives au based on what happens in his death scene. may change some things later but for now this is how our big man lives:

when attacked by the clown, he thinks it's a prank up until his thumb is cut off (sorry but if he's gonna live he at least has to lose something!)

the clown stabs him in the gut but once the knife is taken, he fights back, and frendo falls into the tv.

with frendo momentarily down, tucker tries to go for a phone to call an ambulance, but once frendo is back in action, tucker grabs frendo by his costume's coveralls and they start wrestling, crashing into the coffee table, covering tucker in wounds from glass shards.

frendo grabs tucker by the ankle but he horse-kicks with all his might against his shoulder, missing his face but still doing enough damage to temporarily take him out again.

he gets to the house phone but frendo returns, grabbing him by his hair and pulling him back, ready to slit his throat; but tucker gets him with his elbow, incidentally knocking the knife out of frendo's hand. he's able to take frendo down, grabbing the knife himself and stabbing frendo, killing him.

it's never confirmed but i'm getting the impression that tucker's mother might've been involved with the clowns. she comes home to find him near-bleeding out and takes him to the hospital — but he later finds out that his attacker was his mother's latest boyfriend, and after he survives the attack, he starts to get paranoid that his mother was involved somehow, even when she's technically cleared. haven't yet decided if she is involved, but i don't think it matters yet because tucker can't decide, either.

"Matt can be such a shithead, Tucker thought. He should have texted Cole first. But now Cole would be pissed if he went out of his way or turned around to get Tucker, only to have Matt also show up. And Tucker couldn’t jeopardize his thing with Cole. The rest of the gang could sometimes be dicks to Tucker Lee, but that didn’t matter. Cole Hill was the coolest kid in Kettle Springs and Tucker’s best friend. Some people used to joke that he was Cole’s bodyguard, but Tucker knew he was more than that. Cole had his back as much as Tucker had Cole’s. Now that he thought about it, it was Tucker’s duty to get out to Tillerson’s. Under his own power. Cole shouldn’t have to fuck up his plans with the new girl, come halfway across town to give Tucker a ride. And besides, Tucker was a big guy, didn’t feel like being the third wheel in the back seat of Cole’s two-door car."

more than anything i need tucker to get a grip. the movie taking away tucker's infatuation with cole and his unofficial bodyguard status is another crime 👎
