learning a new language definitely requires great discipline and huge commitment.
when i first began my journey in learning Korean, i was just doing it for fun and nothing else. eventually, i lost motivation and stopped. i found no significance in doing so.
during the lock down, i spent most of my time watching k-dramas and exploring k-indie music. from there, i found my purpose in learning Korean. and it's not just because i want to watch dramas without having to read the subtitles, or because i want to be able to hear a song and not search for its English translation.
i want to learn the language because i wish to understand their culture. i felt the urge to make sense of why their dramas are created as such, or why their music was made to sound like that. i knew i can simply research it on the internet, but i also knew that there is something much deeper than what i can see on google. i choose to learn their language since it's important in understanding their culture, and vice-versa.
so i began my new journey in learning Korean. and i admit that sometimes, i struggle to find the discipline needed in order to learn. but i am committed and determined.
