Writing stuff
I am nearing the final chapters of both The Lonesome and Dance with the Devil. I’ve had sooo much fun with these, the end is always bittersweet. It’s hard to give an exact eta for final chapters, but I have about 2-3 chapters left of each. I’m guessing they will end within the next 4 weeks.
I already have a list of WIPs I’d like to revisit in the coming months. That list is still on my mind, and the working list but…
As we know writing is a funny thing! Something else demands my attention! I’m deep in vampire mode and over the last few weeks, an old fic idea i abandoned came back to me!
I will continue developing this, and yes this means more vampires, supernatural and….
More info & boards to come!
I have 3 chapters written so far, chapter 4 is halfway done and revised my original chapter 1 from 2022. I just updated Oscar’s characters look to match the Dune one. Before i was just going with his longer hair look, but this look is perfect. 🙂
Just posted a new chapter so what better time for a fic meme. Tagged by @magicalrocketships but idk if I have any better screen grabs than theirs.
1. How many works do you have on ao3?
38, which makes the average word count completely ridiculous.
2. What's your total ao3 word count?
1,048,397. Average word count 27,589. Brevity, I don't know her.
3. What fandoms do you write for?
Downton Abbey, Fate the Winx Saga, Good Omens currently.
4. What are your top 5 fics by kudos?
The Honeysuckle Arch
Learning to Speak the Language of Flowers
An Equal and Opposite Reaction
Instalments
The Could in People
Whenever I look at the stats, I'm taken aback at just how skewed my sense of which fics are the most popular is. Because I would not have guessed some of these at all.
okay first of all, congrats on such a nice milestone liam!!!!!! ヽ(´▽`)/ ur awesome man and so is ur writing, u deserve it!!
second, id like to know which omori characters are the most relatable to u and also how do u write a character u still don't really get
Ahh thank you Rose! It’s super insane, and I’ve been delirious bc fatigue from my second vax and I almost thought I dreamed it, but then it was real!!!!
As for the writing characters I find relatable vs not. I mean based on the characters I tend to focus on (Hero, Kel, Sunny, etc.) you can probably tell who I find most relatable lol. I hit a sweet spot with those characters when I played the game because I have things that I can find in myself about those characters. Not to get to introspective but you want to find something about yourself that you can see in every character. For example Basil is not a character I connect with, but that’s also because he reminds me of some of the stuff I don’t really like about myself.
For characters I don’t connect with automatically I usually try to find that personal connection to them. If I can’t find that I personally turn to music. As I’ve definitely said too many times, I need music for everything I write. If I don’t have a specific thing to listen to, I can’t see the picture in my mind. But sometimes it comes from show or movie scenes too but that’s more rare. I also have a playlist of songs that give me daydreams no matter what (All purpose songs lol) Specifically for Basil I have a bunch of songs that I keep on hand for when I have to write him that give me daydreams for him, but honestly it’s probably always gonna be a struggle lol
1, 5, 10, 12 💜
1. From one to five stars, how would you rate your writing? (No downplaying yourself!)
I would say a 3.5. I'm not super confident, but I'd like to think I'm good at my craft.
5. What’s the fic you’re most proud of?
Probably one I just finished for @rad-infiniitum about her characters Neil and Luna 💜
10. What’s your favorite genre to write for?
Speculative Fiction, especially fantasy.
12. Tell us about a WIP you’re excited about.
One is another fic I'm writing for @rad-infiniitum set in the year 1816.
One is a Mass Effect: Andromeda beast.
One is a little something special that I'm keeping secret, but will be for @rpsocsandcanonohmy when it's done 😊😊😊
Sorry for the screen record but I didn't want to link and this is super cool! Immediately when I saw this I thought about how Viago had to stash Illario somewhere until things cooled down, and this is my mental image of one of the vault doors at the Diamond. Somehow all the coolest things I learn about randomly don't have a place to be described in my writing but I had to share this because it's honestly incredible and it's giving security that could be used in Thedas in non-magical places.

Your favorite fic you’ve written: I probably have to say Doodle of a Surface Life. It’s the one that has taken on a life of its own, the one that’s been the most fun once it was out in the world.
Your least favorite fic you’ve written: I honestly like all of them. I don’t think I write enough to have one out there that I don’t like.
Your most popular fic: Instalments, by a fairly massive margin.
The fic you wish more people would read: A Fistful of Infinity and Starlight. It’s a MUSICAL but also I genuinely worked really hard on it since it’s so far outside my wheelhouse. There’s a couple of long speeches in it which I think are amongst the best stuff I’ve ever written anywhere, ever.
The fic you most enjoyed writing: I was reminded of The Could In People the other day. I had a lot of fun with that and I think it has the best ending I’ve ever written and I always really like it when I come up with an ending that makes me think ‘ahhhh’ when I get there.
The fic you found hardest to write: An Equal and Opposite Reaction has a lot of stuff in it that’s quite personal and there are bits that when I re-read them I’m like... ouch.
Your funniest fic: The Colour of Cartoon Sunshine? Maybe? It’s definitely the one that has the joke in it that still makes me laugh when I think about it. It’s the funniest to me. The Opposite of Loneliness I also think is quite funny in a completely different way.
Your saddest fic: Probably a straight tie between Maybe The Seaside Is The Place and Ten Track Sophomore Album. They’re quite similar in tone. There’s something about purposefully writing angst that makes me do this thing with sentence structure that I forget I can do, and then when I read it back after a while I’m like... ok that is brutal. Re-reading MTSITP actually made me cry.
The fic you’d like to be remembered for: I’d like to think that occasionally I’ve hit on a sentence which struck people, which resonated with something they’re going through or something they felt, something which sticks with them and they take with them. I don't really want to be remembered as a person but just like that, as a series of fragments which meant something for a moment to someone, somewhere, who needed to read that specific thing.
