imagine them holding a funeral service without a body and most of the damn town showing up because, despite the fact that he didn’t have a lot of close friends, he had touched just about everyone’s lives in some small way. imagine diane driving down to be there for it, because despite all that happened between them, he had been the father of her child and she never ever wanted him dead. imagine joyce going to the cabin with el to pack up her things, leaving the rest of it virtually untouched so that if el ever wants to come back and do something with it, it will be there for her. imagine there being a physical grave for jim hopper, beloved police chief of hawkins, 1942-1985. imagine people leaving flowers and mementos there every sunday. imagine el and joyce and the others with these daily reminders of the fact that hopper is no longer alive and he’s not coming back, they’ll never see him or hug him or hear his voice again.
