After spending almost everyday with Sturgis for nearly three months, Elizabeth found herself looking for him even though she knew he wasn’t there. Adjusting to life alone again was proving to be more challenging than she imagined. Egypt, for all of its dry, sandy, heat had surprised her. She had found companionship in Sturgis that she had never expected to find.
Sending an owl, she felt compelled to reach out, to make sure that he was adjusting well. She knew that coming back to the United Kingdom was not on his list of to do’s. There was a moment of pause before releasing her owl to find Sturgis, her growing concern for his well being catching her off guard.
As she waited for him to arrive at their agreed upon meeting place she felt clingy, her stomach a flutter as she nursed her coffee, an order of fish and chips had been placed and she wished she had the chips already, something to occupy her mouth and settle her growing nausea.
