A few years ago, I came up with a set of questions that I think is helpful to know the answers to if you are trying to define your personal style and decide whether you should buy a clothing item or not. It helps me keep in mind, e.g., that I do not actually wear pastels, and so should think really hard about whether to buy a top that makes my boobs look amazing but is in a color that I don't actually like on me. Or whether to buy a cool hat, knowing that I have worn a hat maybe twice a year in my most active hat-wearing years.
