Harry/Mason: say goodbye and hit the road

Harry kissed his mom goodbye for the hundredth time in the past two years. It never got easier.  It was even worse this time because Mason was coming too and his mom was going to be without all three of them for the first time. 

Whenever she was really mad or sad, her voice went low and words she couldn't bare to say out loud became raspy whispers instead. So he'd hardly heard the goodbye, but the orders  to take care of Mason above all else came through loud and clear.  He'd promised to look out for him at all costs. Mason was leaving home and school to be with him, so it was the very least he could do.

He would keep Mason happy and safe. But Katie was another story. Trouble found her and she invited it to stay.  Impulsive and unpredictable,   Harry never knew what she would do next. He hoped she understood that her behavior on tour would reflect on them all personally and professionally.  If she even showed up!

He gave his mother a last hug and hustled his bags and Mason's out to the van that would take them to meet the bus. Harry and Mason watched her as they drove away, and Harry prayed he could be responsible enough.
