Ahead of Saturdays Danny Jacobs - Canelo Alvarez mega-fight, we’ll give Danny Jacobs the SMF Last 5 treatment. Foreshadowing: some weird looks mixed in.
In his most recent fight, at Madison Square Garden in October 2018, Danny beat the previously undefeated Sergey Derevyanchenko. Jacobs had a good look:
Red faux fur trim over black Havoc trunks. A small Havoc insignia on the lower left thigh and NATE (Jacobs’ son’s name) across the waistband in red with white outline. Black Everlast gloves with the Brooklyn Boxing insignia on the lower fist. Strong.
Six months prior to that, Jacobs had an entertaining fight with tough Polish fighter Maciej Sulecki in Brooklyn.
Black trunks a fat silver waistband with a BROOKLYN BOXING label that looks like it was affixed with elmers glue hours before the fight. A fascinating mish-mash of zebra and dot point patterns on the trim and side-panels.
Not sure whats happening here.
In November of 2017, Danny Jacobs beat Luis Arias at Nassau Coliseum. Another fascinating style ensemble from the boxer out of Brownsville:
Danny, Danny, Danny. I guess I like the attempt at unique trunks, but this is a swing and miss for me.
Moving on, in March of 2017, Jacobs lost a razor thin decision to Gennadiy Golovkin at Madison Square Garden. Jacobs sported a decent camoflage set:
Not bad. Black and gold trim over the camo, with black gloves. Can’t complain. Would look cleaner with more camo and less trim, but overall this is solid.
In September 2016, Jacobs dominated Sergio Mora in their rematch in Reading, Pa:
Black trunks made of a semi-gloss leather with blue trim. BROOKLYN BOXING across the waistband in white and blue, with standard black Everlast gloves.
I liked the pop of color in the shoes, and overall this is a very clean look.
Aside from the Brooklyn Boxing logo, the frequent presence of NATE, and Everlast gloves - there are very few similarities from fight-to-fight in Jacobs’ looks (and we didn’t even mention this infamous ensemble). We could get anything Saturday night - hope its a good look and a great fight!
