If I had a nickel for every time I was in a fandom with a character who had snake motifs, a lot of hidden secrets, a lot of gold accents, a J as the first letter of their name, a want to climb the social latter established above a happy-go-lucky seeming top of the social ladder main character, a deep sea animal best friend who gets mischaracterized as solely negative by the fandom when in reality they're complex and helpful despite the eccentric energy they have and their ragebaiting tendencies with either canon or fanon sharp teeth (whom I ship them with), and some sort of power to control people
