I have no idea if I’ll get around to finishing these, so have some more single dads au sketches

Basically in this au Sonya and Johnny are divorced, and Suchin died in a car accident when Takeda was a baby

Johnny and Kenshi have seen each other around, mainly when dropping their kids off at school, and Kenshi has definitely caught the eye of the other. When Cassie and Takeda become friends, it forces their dads to see more of each other, creating new feelings and fun shenanigans for the kids to get into

thinking abt how much taka loved suchin, his wife, before she was killed... thinkin abt just how much time they spent together, just how soft she made him....

taka who spent most of his early life jumping between jobs, took up any job he could find to make ends meet, had a place with his aunt and uncle after his parents passed, grew apart with his sisters since they went to stay with the other side of his family, had no one but himself and acted like it...

and then he met suchin, probably a meet-cute while he was working a long shift, saw her come in and was... unphased. taka who saw just another customer, but she saw taka and knew he was the one...

so she kept coming back, became a regular, put the moves on him a little... and taka, at this point in his life, pre- or early transition and in a slump of feeling awful about himself, is oblivious to suchin's advances 😭 by the time he comes around she's going "well, finally-" and finally taking him on a date proper-

taka terrified of what she'll think of him once she finds out he's trans, but after months of talking and dates and just hanging out and seeing each other she discloses that she's trans and taka all but beams- and he immediately tries to connect with her on that front, tells her, "yeah.. me too..." and it's a sort of hush and giggle moment between them, like they were talking about a silly secret crush and not being trans, but it was their sweet moment-

and so from there they evolve into probably the two most dangerous sword wielders in all of japan due to suchin already knowing how to wield a sword and deciding that taka should know too (because she was involved in shady business with the red dragon)- and taka picks it up and runs with it because it's the one thing he finds he's really good at- and after traveling the world and proving that they were truly the best swordfighters, finally they decide that maybe it's time to settle down...

and they do, they find a nice little place in suchin's hometown near her family and they start their journey together having takeda..

and of course disaster strikes right before takeda is born, just a few more weeks and he wouldve at least gotten to meet his mother but instead she was killed by the red dragon, leaving her family to take care of taka and takeda like they promised...

except taka disappears.

he doesnt even wait for takeda to be born, he takes off-- which is objectively the worst choice, he should've at least waited to have takeda with suchin's family so he could leave him with family, some ties to him and suchin so when the time came he'd be more ready to meet his dad...

but taka knew suchin's family well, and knew takeda would grow up saddled with debt and most likely take the same path his mother was forced to, one littered with crime and death and hard choices... he wanted better for his son. and he wanted vengence for his wife.

so, he stayed with the person he knew best out of everyone (even though he barely knew him outside of combat) and ended up at the fire temple with hanzo hasashi... and taka knew that takeda would grow up right there, would have a chance at an honest and good life even if he failed to go through with his plan-- taka gives birth to takeda in the fire temple, rests a few weeks and struggles to bond with his son knowing he's just going to leave him, and when the time comes to go, he does, even after hanzo asks him at every possible moment if this is really what he wants, if this is the best option for them both, if this is right.

but taka goes through with it. and hanzo let's him. and takeda grows up knowing the shadow of his father, and taka goes on remembering the fragile, tiny son he left behind, and taka does nothing but regret his choice the moment he reduces the entirety of the red dragon to ash and myth.

taka goes back to talk to his son and he sees and hears and feels suchin in every hurtful word slung at him, hears the echo of the woman he loved in their beloved son, can do nothing but freeze from the moment takeda opens his mouth and sento shows him what he looks like...

the first words taka ever says to takeda--in such a weak and heartfelt tone, full of warmth and regret and the realization that he made the biggest mistake of his life--are "you sound just like your mother..."

and from the moment takeda decides he wants a relationship with taka, taka is putting his whole heart and soul into being better, into showing him how much he cares, how much he loves him, how much he wants to be there... and they both grow into a such a lovely and mostly healthy relationship, assurances that they're always there, actions that show they care, frequent visits and (taka's personal favorite thing) planned camping trips every season.

they suffered apart, and once reunited, yes, faced that turmoil and anger and sadness, worked through regret and neglect and loss and so much pain, but they came out of it together, father and son, and have been inseperable since.

taka also definitely tells takeda all about his mother, passes on the motherly advice suchin always said she wanted to share, told him his mothers story and boasted about her achievements and gives her all the credit she deserves for takeda even coming about... taka who pulls out dusty photo albums he could never open by himself, relives so many memories with takeda right beside him...

i just never talk about them and it's such a crime because the takahashi family is so beautiful to me and they make me so happy... suchin you beautiful woman, i miss you every day 😭💖

Can you imagine the kind of grief Suchin would go through if she was brought back by Kronica? Like, one second she’s fighting for her and her son’s life against what seems to be an endless wave of assassins, praying and hoping they don’t find him, then she’s yoinked from her time and is now standing before a god, by the way those are real, and she’s saying she can make it so her and her son are never discovered and she can raise the boy in peace, just do her this one small favor and kill these people for her. She agrees, assuming that if events are unaltered that both her and Takeda would have died, so like the younger Scorpion, she’s fighting for a lie.

Then she meets the people she’s tasked with killing, some military grunts and their bosses and another god. Whatever. But then one of them asks for her name mid flight and she gives it, thinking nothing of it, the person is about to die anyway, but they pause and have this haunted look in their eyes and immediately call everything off and start panicking because holy shit they were about to kill Takeda’s mom. This is messed up. And now she pauses because how do they know her son? He’s alive? He’s involved in all of his?

Then she learns who she’s been fighting. His friends, his fiancé, his mentor, his adoptive father and master. It’s 20 years into the future and Kronica puppeted her into fighting the people her son cared most about. She was played a fool.

Once everything is over and a new god is made and things calm down she finally sees him again but he’s so vastly different she can’t recognize him at all. Her son was a small, shy, young boy that stubbornly clung to his mother and was wary of outsiders. This was a charismatic, witty, and kindhearted young man that is fiercely loyal to his friends and clan. He had become a warrior and she had missed every step of that progression and it hurt.

She'd be wracked with grief but refuse to show it and Takeda would see right through her. I bet the only person who could really get through to her about it would be Hanzo

Also, her reactions with young Sonya would be very interesting. Bc Suchin loves her son, always has, but young Sonya is understandably put off by the thought of having a kid with someone she hates, so they'd have some interesting convos

Kronika would get ripped a new one tho, Suchin isn't "The Bitch With A Blade" for no reason, after all

Its a historical au, CageBlade divorce era, Suchin is gone.

Johnny's was in the warrior tribe and Kenshi was a samurai in the Takahashi clan but they both get banished and meet somewhere and they fight and they kiss

Also Takeda and Cassie somehow meet and very quickly become friends, also there's a sideplot they go to look for their mothers (Suchin and Sonya are in a polycule with Kitana)

The warrior clan may very well end up being greek or even Mediterranean celts I'll need to work it put. (Greek is just easier to research up)
