@sugamoma Well, tell the bunch of fools that they should @ me next time instead of starting an entire conversation somewhere past my ass.
Additionally, tell the person who thinks that there should be an apostrophe in “its problems” that they seemingly need to repeat basic english grammar rules. Its is meant like his or hers or theirs, and not like it is.
But now to what you guys actually had to criticize.
The problems of ks are not just within the universe the writer created, but even more so in the fandom. The fandom is literally romanticizing a rapist, murderer and abuser.
Next to ks being horror, it is also labeled as bl. And in that context, the author essentially portrays homosexuality as something disgusting and abusive. It does literally not matter if there is only one (1) gay relationship in that mahwa, it is a general negative presentation of homosexuality.
Actually, what we see is not even a gay relationship. It is a kidnapping situation where Yoonbum is held captive against his will and slowly his survival instincts go from “I should kill him and escape” to “I will try to get him to let me live by doing everything he wants me to”. And that is the Stockholm Syndrome.
The fans however do not see it as such and go lengths to defend the piece itself and why it is absolutely okay for them to make this their next gross shipping thing.
Have you seen all the people portraying this abusive situation as something romantic? Have you seen how they add flower crowns on Sangwoo’s images as if he is their soft little prince and not a rapist, murderer, and abuser?
To me that is just outraging. The ks fandom is actually excatly like those people who romanticize real life serial killers and rapists. It’s just that you always scream “but it’s only a work of fiction!1!! get over it!” and write essays on how the contents of the novel are actually 100% okay and not something that should be criticized.
Moreover, it is the author’s responsibility to make a story that does neither romanticize [x]-phobias nor downplays them.
As the author, you have control over what you write. It would be no problem to write a horror story that does not have to relate on homophobia, transmisogyny, misogyny, transphobia, demonization of neurodivergent people, objectification of women, rape, the “gays are predators and paedphiles” trope, etc. pp.
You can always write a horror story that does not have to dehumanize groups that are already dehumanized in real life even further. And you can indeed write a story that is both fantastic and “politically correct”.
In conclusion: The author at least has the absolution that his work is only a work of fiction and that he can always lie about how it does not portray his actual views on gay, trans, and neurodivergent people as well as on women.
The fandom however has showed multiple times that they are shameless and utterly ignorant subjects.
TL;DR: If I met any of you in real life, I would fight you physically and drag your asses to next police station.
