"you're so sweet." lucas chuckled with a cocky smile, taking great pleasure in her standoffish attitude. he knew he was hurting her pride, he knew he was that annoying tick she couldn't get rid off. "if i'd have known you would welcome with such a warm and loving presence i might have brought a battle of wine just for the hell of it." he bit his lip, loving the childish games they were playing. the back and forth. and he couldn't wait till the day he finally brought her down for good.
lucas's eyebrows furrowed in mock worry and he placed a hand on his chest "well, i certainly hope you don't think i had anything to do with it." having just enough fun to keep the charade up a little longer even though they both knew the truth. "oh no, i'm sure you have your own personal pets or whatever. maybe one of them." he asked as he pointed towards a man who was standing on the other side of the balcony, obviously one of her bodyguards. he let the wall of pretend fall down and he let out a laugh at how she was trying to hold back her aggressiveness. "i mean, yeah it's pretty good. knowing you're up here licking your wounds like a little kitten. you like this image of being so dangerous and here i am. ruining it for you. standing here and there's no fear." lucas might have a death wish, there was no one else in his life. he was just doing this for all the people she had and would down the line hurt. but his smile dropped at her smug attitude and what she was insinuating.
he stepped closer to her, his face closer to hers than it had ever been before. he wasn't intimidated by her. "the only way i'll miss you is when you're wearing an orange jumpsuit. and i'll miss that look on your face that says 'how did i let this happen', wondering how i bested you… i get the confusion though. even though you won't admit it, you respect me. hell. you might even see me as an equal."
