I'd like to hold space this 2025 Disability Pride Month for talking about topics which we are still working to globally destigmatize: honoring disabled persons and their experiences as a whole, and suicide.

One of the things I love the most about the Disability Pride Flag is not only the overarching inclusivity of disabled groups, but the unwavering acknowledgement of those who have been affected by ideations, attempted, and/or fatal suicide. Regardless (but not exclusive of) physical or mental ability, there are a variety of factors that can contribute to suicidality, which can be disabling in itself. This is an experience, like many other experiences of disability, that can leave the afflicted feeling compounded isolation when met with improper support. So, as society works toward destigmatizing suicidality, strong conversations surrounding accommodations and beneficial aid for suicidality is crucial; this is why we must take a strong stance against any form of encouragement or suicide baiting -- of anyone, for any reason, without exception.

Kindness is never a mistake, but always a choice.

Telling someone to end their life is abusive, always inexcusable (even as a "joke"), and can never be allied with disability advocacy.

It's wild how they just say that we aren't as smart as we thing we are, when you just KNOW this person has never laid eyes on a peer reviewed document, and have gotten their opinions solely from their friends.

Also, this is what I meant about double standards in my post earlier.

Sysmeds routinely make posts like this telling pro-endos and endogenic systems to kill themselves. And there's not a peep from the anti-endo community. Suibaiting like this is normalized by them. They're okay with this.

I make a post or two saying I think anti-endos deserve to be ostracized for spreading hate and supporting a hate group, and people freak out and act like I'm demanding they be thrown in solitary confinement for a life sentence. 🙄
