Sulekha.com company is a company whose marketing strategies are made to fool and cheat people of their hard earned money.
This is a yellow pages website where people list their businesses in order to promote/market their business. The company has many marketing locations through out India. Their head office is located some where in Chennai. Now chennai people may have a very good name in terms of honesty and courteousness, but it is also the home to many fraudsters in India.
In my personal experience, if not all, 99% of the people belonging to this city have made false promises to me in order to gain a business order or to gain false trust in friendship.
I dont know how this company is able to operate in India so openly.
Once you register with sulekha.com, you become invisible to them. Their marketing personnel offers you many free gifts in return of your membership amount during the time of sign up. They even give you in writing , that you will be given 100+ leads every month for the category you have chosen. After the sign up, you find that neither the gifts which were promised to you arrive nor you get any leads as promised by the marketing guy.
In fact , if the marketing guy promises you 100 + leads, be ready to get just 5 leads in a month. Sometimes you dont get a single lead in month. Upon calling their call centre, they say they have not received enough or any inquiry for your category.
They have also refused point blank on your face that they will not be able to send more than 5 to 10 inquiries in a month for my business category even after promising 100+ leads.
After arguing with them for a few minutes , they even dare to just hang up on you.
So what do you do in this situation. You try to call the marketing guy who put you into this mess , right? But to your surprise, when you call his number, you get a message saying that this number is unreachable or switched off. And this message keeps on coming for a few months.
And in an unlikely event , if you still haven't lost your patience, you keep trying his number again and again. One fine morning the number is active again and the phone rings. You stay calm and speak to the marketing guy and question him for the things which he had promised you, instead the marketing guy ,abuses you in the worst possible language which brings your heart in your mouth and stuns you for a few seconds. And then he hangs up. Yet again,the number is unreachable for a few months. Until then your one year contract is expired, and you are nobody to the company any more.
The company has been doing this since more than a decade and no one is able to do anything about it. And we say #merabharatmahan.
The best way to avoid such scams is to be aware and refrain yourself from signing with any kind of marketing company who promises you loads of business and deals which you have no control of.
Written agreements ,spoken words and promises have no value in India.
Scamming people is in the DNA of Indians.
