Summer isn't the same
I hate summer now. Summer means coming back to this shitty town filled with shitty people and bad energy. Because I'm broke. Because I might be studying or pursuing a career that's too much for me. A career that might not be mine. Summer means feeling different. And not a good different. Because I love me, I love the way I am and that I am not the same as everyone else. I have a special style and unique personality. But this place makes me feel shitty about who I am and my desicions. Summer isn't longer filled with happiness and random adventures. It's filled with emptiness, loneliness and insecurities. Guess summer is no longer filled with hopeful summer love and midnight laughter because those years are over. We are all grown up now and I'm a bit behind, because teen years are over.

Summer Confessions Part II
I’m jealous. I’m selfish.
With my dreams… at least I think you should. A lot of older (island) folks always say “When ya finish school ya need to come back home and invest in this country! (The Bahamas)” and I always get prosecuted as if saying “No, I’m staying there” Is the ultimate sin. I think limitations are barriers people place on themselves when their afraid of new ventures or entering situations they’re not really familiar with. I learned this much in my life - God makes you uncomfortable in order to get you to another comfortable position in your life. So don’t ever be afraid to step out of your comfort zone to go after your aspirations. 10-15 years down the line you never want to say “what if…” Step out on faith, plunge into your dreams (Whatever it is you want to be) and live with no regrets!
Summer Confessions Part 1
We all have that one person we dated who made us look at life and people differently. Lately, this new mentality has me guarding my heart and wearing my emotions loosely. So loosely that I don't ever want to be that 17/18 year old who was sitting in his car too broken to sneak back into his mother's house without sounding like shattering glass. I've encountered "love" a few times since then but I never played it too close. I guess you can say I'm scared to give someone that power over me (again). I cringe every time my parents ask me "So when are you bringing someone home for us to meet?" Not because I don't have an answer but because I refuse to even think about bringing someone home who isn't serious with me or taking me seriously. Lately I've been so "Team Me", it's ridiculous. It's not that I'm shunning the chances of another relationship or that potential "one" but to be completely honest with you, I'm so scared. I need to shake that fear and hopefully one day I just may stumble across that someone who's willing to take a chance on me (and vice versa).
Summer confessions...
I know I haven't posted anything in a while but recently I've been inspired to post a few summer confessions. I can't remember the handle of the tumblr blog I got this from but if you ever see this, thank you for your bravery.
Summer Confession #2
As much as I'd hate to admit to myself, I used to be a selfish prick 6 years ago.
