Accepted into GSoC!

I am accepted into Google Summer of Code 2016. Will be working on Tryton (under Python Software Foundation). I will be developing the CSV Import/Export feature for their Web Client codenamed SAO. I am very enthusiastic about this as I could finally write a proposal for GSoC after failing to do so for two years in a row.

Would be working mostly in JavaScript and the many tools that come with it. Would be working from home this summer. Really wanted to visit another city. Just waiting for the semester examinations to end.

2 Days Left To Support BlackGirlsCODE Summer of Code Program

School may be out for summer but that doesn’t put a halt to theBlackGirlsCODE mission to educate young girls of color across the nation in computer programming.

To close the digital divide and change the face of tech, founderKimberly Bryant of BlackGirlsCODE will travel 7 cities in 90 days to teach over 300 young girls how to build their very own video game, build a webpage, program robots and other fun and creative activities.

I was fortunate enough to join the team of 30 volunteers during BGC’s largest summer workshop yet in Oakland, California as we assisted almost 80 young girls that came out on a Saturday morning to learn to “Build a Webpage in a Day”. I cannot begin to describe the energy that filled all four computer labs as our future computer divas dived right in on building their own webpage, learning the basics on HTML and CSS, becoming familiarized with web-making tools such as Hackasaurus and Thimble and watching the web come alive.

My Summer of Code

PHP was the first server-side web development language I ever learned, and for the last nine years I’ve worked almost exclusively in it. I started out writing these overly complex, custom-scripted websites, moved on to building within frameworks (CakePHP was my weapon of choice), and eventually dove headfirst into Drupal. Here’s what’s bothering me - through each of these transitions, I find myself writing less and less code. Which brings me to my personal “Summer of Code” (not to be confused with [GSOC](http://code.google.com/soc/)). It’s time to learn some new things. Here’s what I plan to do over the next three months: * Start a project in Ruby on Rails * Improve my Javascript skills and learn Node * Discover and gain some experience in a Javascript client-side framework (Like Backbone.js) I’m planning to use online resources for most of my learning, but I’ve also enrolled in an intensive Advanced Javascript course at NYU and will be attending NodeConf in July. What else can I do? Got any suggestions for books, courses, or other resources that might help? Let me know in the comments.

6,685 Applications Including Students and Exposure of 98 Countries

Google Summer of Code – Techno-Advanced Era:

Similar to the other rapid and fastest growing tools of Google, there is no doubt that the ‘Summer of Code’ is also a very good tool to be used in this competitive and techno congested era, where pursuit of latest moderation is always facilitated and people are found awaited. However, the initiative of popular Summer of Code is now in the 8th year and it has made a record to get the largest number of applications data recorded by the company authorities.

Participation of Geneder:

There were lots of extraordinary records but the most exciting evidence was considered as the maximum percentage of accepted applications as compare to the previous was showing very interesting fact that the major portion of these agreement was covered by the women. This is really not the first time that in this process, a greater percentage of women is found among the whole audience but if a glance has been given on the previous records, it will be showing that there is an increased percentage of women participation since 2006. However, this time this record has been observed as 8.3 Percent on comparison with last year data.

Huge Exposure – All over the World:

With a greater level of successful hits and more advanced tools and techniques used in the overall process by purpose of improvement. The program has also proclaimed to have the largest number of agreed applicants that are focusing on the same theme that to be facilitated and in addition, stipends is paid to all the students who are 18 or older or even the students of post-secondary education to  write down the code for the software projects of an open source. This time the record was considered over as much as 6,685 application data, including 4,258 application of students, having an exposure in 98 different countries.
