Last day of Summer! The Portland Farmers Market at Shemanski Park is just a few blocks away from Shift Drinks. Such a blessing. We ran into Will Harper today. Anthony & Will worked together at Noisette back in the day. They'll collaborate once more at LangBaan now that Anthony's crafting the wine program.
Impromptu Portland Event Space Never a dull moment in Portland's West End. So many benefits to having large picture windows. Our friends ask us how we always get hit with walk-in 30 to 50 tops: weddings, meet-ups, birthdays, conferences, etc . . .and we have the space. The wedding party, captured above, filled our bar at midnight when the reception ended.
Sommelier Michael Crews demonstrates the crushablity of AMERICA LAGER from UPRIGHT BREWING. We took the last keg of AMERICA. It’s on tap now at Shift Drinks. They’re not going to say this on the UPRIGHT website, but word on the street, this is their version of the ‘King of Beers’. Keeping in fine tradition of Portland craftspeople taking the inspiration from the essence of something that is sorta whack, paying homage to it by making it soigné, we’re huge fans. Any of you ever get to try the little 'Filet-o-Fish’ Nomad did for their late night #crushkilldestroy menu, siiick, right? Anyway, it’s another 97+ degree scorcher today, this limited production rendition of a macro-style lager will probably not last the night. Hurry in while supplies last. Nice work, Mikey.
We’re asked often why/how Shift Drinks stays so incredibly cool, given our 3000 square foot size, large picture windows and 23 foot ceilings. We repurposed a dinosaur of an A/C unit [38 years old], used originally to cool computer server rooms down. It’s dimensions are 84"H x 36"D x 65"W [bottom right]. The best news for us is it didn’t cost us a dime and saved us $40,000 during our build out. The best news for you is it works like a champion, particularly on these blazing hot days that drive folks inside for relief and a cold cold one.

Today’s farmers market is all about the heirlooms. Inspired by this week’s trip to Hood River, we’ll recreate our favorite Double Mountain pizza [bottom left] as a bruschetta: heirloom tomato, pesto, pecorino. Débuts tonight!
