SUNFLOWER Vol.6 🌻

Recently, I saw someone on this platform pointing out how these flowers in Harry’s shirt are chrysanthemums (L.O.T.), and like a trigger that took me directly to SUNFLOWERS vol.6.

Once, at the National Gallery Margaret Thatcher asked to see a Van Gogh 'chrysanthemum' painting referring to his sunflower’s painting, so…

Van Gogh painted two different series of Sunflowers, the first 12unit series (Paris 1887) shows the flowers lying down & the second 7unit set (Arles 1888) shows a bouquet of sunflowers in a vase.

When Gauguin & Van Gogh met, they exchanged a couple of paints, Vincent exchange two of his sunflower collection pieces that were extraordinarily appreciated. Gauguin said: ‘that — ... that's... the flower’.🌻

Vincent wanted to decorate the whole studio with nothing but sunflowers: "in the hope of living in a studio of our own with Gauguin, I'd like to do a decoration for the studio. Nothing but large sunflowers".

The pair shared a studio for just 9 weeks and finished with Vang Gogh’s ear mutilation, even though it was believed that it was a self-harming act for many years, the time has demonstrated that actually was Gauguin the author during a heated argument. Both men made a pact of silence over it.

The series show sunflowers’ in all stages of life, from full bloom to withering; the concept really linked to Harry’s song as a way of expressing the different moments of a specific relationship. Also, there are just 5 pieces of the vase series exposed for the public, is H’s song the 6th, is the song a gift, or is it referring to a specific stage in the relationship “flower’s” circle of life?
