5 EYE CARE TIPS FOR SUMMER 2020
Eye problems can be easily avoided if you develop essential eye care habits and follow them religiously. They are extremely useful and simple to follow; still, they are the most neglected.
To retain your eye health and make your vision sharp, here are five things that should be included in your day-to-day routine.
Resist yourself from rubbing your eyes.
This is because your hands are exposed to numerous dirt, dust and bacteria, which can be easily transmitted to your eyes every time you touch or rub them. For this reason, do not put your hands to your eyes to stave off pain, infection and irritation. In case of this habit being hard-core, try to get rid of it immediately. For being on the safer side, regularly wash your hands to keep bacteria away and avoid them from getting in contact with your eyes, spectacles, sunglasses, and contact lenses. As proximity to dirt and dust can irritate the eyes, ensure that the places you often spend time at are well maintained and clean. Wash your towels and linens regularly, and keep your surroundings clutter-free.
Use the right kind of eye makeup.
If you wear makeup, prefer the brands that work well for you. Stay away from the eye shadows, mascara, and eyeliners that cause an allergic reaction to your eyes. Use a makeup remover before going to bed to avoid bacterial buildup from residual makeup left in the eye area. Similarly, clean your makeup brushes without fail, especially the eye makeup brushes.
Protect your eyes from the sun, and dust particles and bacteria.
Exposure to sunlight and UV rays increases your risk for age-related eye ailments. Consequently, apart from creating a fashion statement and adding oomph to your look by putting on your summer sunglasses, wear them to safeguard your eyes. And, if you find wearing sunglasses for the most part of the time you spend outdoors cumbersome, then UV-protected eyeglasses or contact lenses suffice. Other than that, caps, visors and hats are also suggested. Wear proper eye safety gear for as per the activities. For instance, if you’re going swimming, wear goggles to avoid exposing your eyes to chlorine. Or, if you’re doing a DIY project at home or gardening, wear safety glasses to keep your eyes safe from the dust particles, bacteria, and most importantly, injuries.
