Saturday 18 August: feeling rough as fuck. The morning battle resumed with fuck all sleep and a humdinger of a hangover. Sky garden never disappoints. I forgot but at alley cats, we were doing suicide tequilas with the locals. Things escalated quickly. Had a chilled breaky and sussed out the scooters. The new steed is pretty nice. Got the boys boat rides to gili as well so things have fallen into place nicely. We packed our shit and got into the traffic. Things were heavy but still flowing so not all bad. It was chilled for me, considering I had been in thicker stuff before. Heading along the highway and before we folked off to Uluwatu, there was a police stop. I saw it and tried to ghost it with the truck in front of me. No chance. These guys were prepared with men on both sides. Got waved in and stopped the scooters. They asked for license and we all instinctively said we had ones from our origin countries. They told us we needed an Indonesian one or international, which we knew full and well. Hahaha. They told us to drive up behind the bush. Another tourist was heading out, I asked him "how much you pay?", "200000" he said. I instantly knew he was a fucking idiot. We got called over and began chatting with the man. Claiming we didn't know we needed licenses (hahahaha hahahaha), he talked us through things and showed us the fine. Luckily I had prepared the boys for this. All of us had 50000 for a bribe, and then just small stuff for water and gas. I told him that's all I had and he could check my bag if he didn't believe me. I turned out my pockets just for emphasis as well. Pretty sure he knew we knew the drill. Paid the 50000 and laughed and joked with the officer. His name was maa tee (add an accent to that). Said our goodbyes and got back to it. Couldn't get to the place we were staying at because the road was block. How fucking stupid. Went back to the place me and Chas stayed at last time and got a room. Ate and headed to dreamland. So nice there. We just sat on the beach and soaked in some rays. Had a swim and what not. So nice. Called it at 5 to head back to the hotel. Ollie sped off through the back roads and I waited for Tim and Michael. We headed to the interesection and couldn't see ollie. No idea where he was. Went to the hotel and he wasn't there. Fuck. After a few minutes of discussion, I fanged it back to find him. We knew exactly where he would have taken a wrong turn. Heading along the road, about 100m before the turn off, he popped around the corner. Thank fuck. He would have been screwed out here in the dark. There was only like 40 minutes of light left. Joking about all that, we headed to single fin for a beer and to watch sunset. It's a ridiculous setting really. So fucking nice. The colours in the sky are nuts. It's amazing how Mother Nature can blend such a good brew. Mint. Headed back to the hotel and grabbed some Mexican for dinner. Can't remember what it's called but is fucking mint. Smashed that and got a couple beers for some yarns. Played cards and talked shit for the evening. Pretty crack up and a good way to end the day I reckon.
