surprise surprise, he isn't daegu born actually. he's seoul borne, specifically from the rich residential area of gangnam is where he stayed, but who know what he is up to in daegu
as much as he denies it, he comes from a 'comfortable' position where money is the least of his concerns, hence why he's always been a salesperson aside from the freedom it gives.
because of his passion in skating though, he isn't an absolute shit at his job. in fact, he could best advice what gears you'd need. perhaps even give you a personal training session
he knows he's good looking and uses that to his benefits of course. from sugaring people up to pretending he's an innocent man, he'd work his way in and out to get what he wants

arisa is very much a local to daegu, her parents moving to the town shortly after her birth in osaka, japan.
unfortunately arisa was a very sickly child, suffering with a disease that gave her a weakened immune system and had her in and out of the hospital from ages 3 to 10. at 10 she had a bad bout in the hospital for several months where the doctors thought that she wasn’t going to make it, but ended up surviving in the end.
she had always been the typical girly girl who dreamed of a wedding and prince charming, fairytale movies were always played in her hospital room as she seemed to perk up while watching them. she likes to say that that love saved her ⏤ not only from the movies, but her parents as well.
although many families have rather broken parental relationships, hers was quite the opposite. her parents were high school sweethearts that broke up and finding each other again in their twenties and never let go ever since. her mother showed her how women were supposed to be treated and her father showed her what to look for in a man. even several decades later, they’re still playful and faithfully dedicated to each other.
so you could say that she’s always been obsessed with the idea of romance. this obviously bled into her relationships, and has dated around a lot in her life, experienced a lot of heartbreak ( especially in high school ), but hasn’t found her prince/ss charming :( which has caused some self-confidence issues which makes her prone to moody behaviors at random.
but she started becoming “cupid” after entering university and helping a couple of couples get together. it was from there that she realized how much she enjoyed helping people in general and decided to advertise her services to those around ⏤ and definitely not because she’s somewhat living through them at all! of course not!
this has also bled into her job @ vesper lounge too ... and around the mall in general, considering her reputation most likely proceeds her but she doesn’t mind that at all.
not only that but she’s sure that she wants to be a therapist or a legit dating coach, so like ... technically this her building experience, right?

his parents loved each other a lot, both in front of and behind cameras, but for some reason that same affection never really extended to him
they saw him as a stain on their careers more than anything, considering he wasn't really the best actor despite his efforts and esp not compared to his parents
an article about his average performance in the new sbs drama on sundays, 9-10pm slot? netizens leaving negative comments? nothing he didn't hear from mom and dad first, and certainly not half as biting, even though it would be a lie to say they didn't have an impact on his already crumbling confidence
starred in dramas and films throughout his teens, though more often in supporting roles much to his parents' annoyance
rinse, repeat, rinse, repeat up until he hit 20, and his mom was hit with illness after illness and was forced to retire. years of stardom and unhealthy life habits eventually caught up to her and haru was left picking up the pieces, trying to take care of her whilst maintaining the rest of his packed life
haha-hehe-hoho-laugh-out-loud'd as much as he could until he eventually had a pretty public breakdown on the set of a drama (no amount of reporting could delete the behind the scenes video that was plastered over sns) one year later and was subsequently booted
and then, as most of the news outlets say, proceeded to "drop off the face of earth" aka delete all of his social media, move out from his family home and hide from the cameras. very few people know the reality, which is that his dad kicked haru out after he told him he no longer wanted to be in the industry
doesn't keep in contact with his dad anymore but still talks to his mom!! who sends him money etc, helped him for those few years after he disappeared when he shifted from tiny to tinier cities, working odd jobs here and there until the next big actor/actress appeared and the media eventually "forgot" about him considering it had been years
moved to daegu 3 years ago and working at sunset galleria ever since!! he's the v happy radio host @ the sunset radio kiosk, choosing the music that plays throughout the mall alongside reading out stories people send in, passing on comforting messages and reminding people to take care
also has two cats called mimi and momo that he adopted from a rescue :^) not the step dad but the #dad that stepped up
in terms of his personality: walls raised to the sky, quiet, very withdrawn. like very, very, very withdrawn. it's been over six years since he's been in the limelight and he still dislikes being in front of cameras, feeling like he's being perceived or watched, analysed etc etc
the irony of disliking attention yet being a radio host isn't lost on him but haru vc: at least people don't actually see my face at sunset unless they're nosy

BACKGROUND
born in daegu to a young college couple that could barely afford to make ends meet for themselves, let alone their newborn child. she was left on the steps of the local fire department at the age of three and brought to a children's home not long after
she was six years old when a sweet couple from the busy bustling city of seoul adopted her, the wife having chanced upon the children's home and jinah during a work trip as a traveling nurse. little young jinah would become the light of their lives despite not being biologically theirs
jinah's childhood was spent adjusting to the bright and loud city when she had only known the quaintness of the countryside, but it didn't take her long to adapt and by the time she moved on to middle school, she was living life like a seoul local
if living like a local meant enduring the hazing and bullying of fellow classmates for being given up at birth. how they came to know such a fact, jinah would never know but that didn't faze her nor did it hinder her in any way because if there's anything that kang jinah is, it's resilient
that resiliency got her through public schooling and before she knew it, she was entering university where she could be anyone that she wanted to be. not that she particularly kept her adoptee status a secret, but it's not exactly something you spill on a first date over coffee, y'know?
it's also during university that she started to fiddle with the idea of finding her birth parents, figure out her true roots and what not. she was careful in letting her parents know of her thoughts and luckily for her, they were fully supportive of the idea as long as jinah finished university first. so that she did; with a bachelors in computer science from hanyang and a mountain of debt to show for it
and so she's back in daegu now, 20 years later to search for her birth parents after the immense amount of money spent on a private investigator alerted her that [redacted] and [redacted] on her file still resided there
for her personality she's very much sticking to the phrase "it is what it is", meaning she's likely to be one of the chillest people you've ever met. it's not that she doesn't care, because it's likely that she does, it's just that she chooses not to stress herself over things completely out of her control. she's sweet and almost always with a smile on her face. a nice girl that would help the elderly cross the street if she saw them struggle or wander around to help a lost child find their parents, you get the vibe we're going for here
PLOTS:
she's a relatively fresh face around the mall and clearly in need of a friend; that's where you come in! ever since you noticed her taking a break on her own you've made it your personal goal to check in with jinah whenever possible
for whatever reason, you find yourself digging through the racks and racks of items at isanghan thrift and she's got her eye on you for potential theft with the way you're ransacking through the shelves but really, you're looking for this (1) thing you lost and security says rumour has it it's landed here
something like this post where she notices you having a crappy day and when she inevitably asks what's wrong you say "nothing" except she's calling bullshit. she may be new to sunset but she isn't dumb, so spill

coached by her mom but was one of those "naturally gifted" youths so it was usually just some tweaking to the script that was done
an absolute icon and star in the entertainment world until everything came crashing down around her

keep in mind when these two events happened she still hadn't even reached her double digit age bracket yet
but regardless, she was kicked into high gear work wise but with everything going wrong around her and being unable to properly process any of it, her acting started to slip and she wasn't doing as great as she used to
ofc lots of gossip calling her a flop, public opinion was kinda ready to shift against her and leave her behind for other rising stars.......her mom was having none of it
rather than comforting minyoung she just pushed her harder and the coaching was becoming strict (for lack of a better word). minyoung just going through the motions at that point
but she hated that she'd gone from praised and adored to pitied and ridiculed so she decided to go big for her last project
everyone expected it to flop which was why the director reluctantly let her onto the project after her mom pretty much begged for it and what would you know, miae gave a performance of a lifetime
and then she quit acting
after minyoung continued to throw tantrums over how she refused to act again, eventually her mom gave up and turned to the younger child
she initially felt bad as the elder child and almost gave in to her mother's demands to keep the pressure off of her younger sibling (since she knew all too well how heavy those expectations were) but when she saw them thriving and adored by their mother in ways that she never was, she grew resentful and withdrew to herself
eventually they would leave her behind to further pursue the younger sibling's career in the states and minyoung was left to take care of herself (i'd say this was around her second or third year of hs?)
now years later, her acting funds have reached a standstill, and she's a ticket taker at haesmuli cinema!!!!

okay so summary of his early life: his mom was mia and his dad had trouble settling down. yoo jaemin was a dreamer and when his dreams inevitably didn't work out he'd fall into alcohol and anger until he found a new idea to latch onto. they moved from place to place, expending the hospitality of their neighbors until they were eventually forced out again. it was one neighbor in particular, an elderly man who sold oranges from a fold out chair in the street, that started developing jaehoon's love of stories. the man would talk to jaehoon for hours, telling him the most fascinating and exciting tales. when he introduced jaehoon to the library and an entire building of stories, jaehoon's young life was changed forever.
things took a turn from the better when, after a drunken bar fight landed him in the hospital, jaemin met oh inah. she was one of his nurses and she was charmed by his sweet smile and big plans. they dated briefly and married quickly and jaehoon found himself suddenly part of a complete family that came pre-built with an older brother and a mom. he had trouble trusting that the situation was permanent, but after a couple of years of patience and effort from both his step brother and inah, he found himself truly happy for the first time in his life.
it was only a matter of time before jaemin once more started concocting big plans that ended up in disaster. after convincing inah to put her life's savings into helping him purchase a run-down building he'd planned to fix up, the building ended up collapsing and the investment was greater than what he could sell the land for. they were broke. after a few months of vicious fighting, jaemin finally dipped leaving his son behind.
inah didn't for a second make jaehoon feel unwelcome or like a burden despite her new situation. she made it clear he was her son, no different from her oldest. she focused on making sure he was okay in the aftermath even as she found herself struggling to make ends meet. jaehoon got his first job as a delivery boy at fourteen years old to help out how he could.
they moved into a tiny one room apartment - the boys shared the bedroom and inah slept on the couch. she picked up extra shifts at the hospital and did what she could to make sure her kids didn't want for much. but they were both old enough to know what was happening and jaehoon did his very best to stay near the top of his class in school and have enough energy to bring in some extra money.
after he graduated secondary school, he got a job at kyobo book centre and really found a place he was comfortable. his plan was to save up some money, do his military service, and then come back and go to university so he could become a teacher. but life has a way of not working out quite right. inah found out she was pregnant when jaehoon was twenty one years old, and she gave birth to oh hana was born when he was twenty two. the birth had some complications and after a couple of days inah passed away.
naturally, jaehoon was distraught. but he and his brother had a kid to take care of so he didn't let himself linger in the feelings for long and threw himself into work. what was meant to be a job for a few years ended up becoming something more permanent and he worked his way up to management pretty quickly. since then, keeping up the store, taking care of hana, and working on his own creative projects have been the things keeping him going while he tries to figure out how he can climb out of the hole again.

his paternal grandparents had set up a trust fund for him, one he gained access to once he started college (he is in his final year and is currently on leave)
big mistake, because he took it as an excuse to do whatever he wanted
he went out partying every other day and dabbled in illegal activities like street racing etc.
what really did it for his dad was when he had gotten into a small accident after one of those illegal street races
his dad removed his access to his trust fund and sent him to daegu to live with his maternal grandmother
his mother had fallen ill and passed away when he was in high school but he had never healthily processed it; his dad was also too busy with work to realise that
this is also why he turned to bad company as he got older, because all the fun distracted him from the loss he never properly dealt with
he used to visit daegu during holidays when he was a child, but has never been back since his mother passed on
his dad wanted to send him away to reflect on his mistakes and have a taste of hardship, so he would understand the value of money and the responsibility that came with having a trust fund
so he decided it was best for him to live in daegu with his maternal grandma, who comes from a more humble background than his paternal family
his dad also figured that in order for him to inherit his family business one day, he has to understand the importance of hard work, which is why he insisted he get a job and not live off his grandma
i imagine this to be a time of reflection and learning for him, where he has to work for the first time ever and kind of returns to his roots, or his mom's roots, whom he avoided thinking about the past couple of years
002. PERSONALITY
a spoilt brat who has never lived a day of hardship so you can expect him to be struggling with this whole job thing
in the beginning, he most probably would be complaining or whining about how he wants to go home
but he's your typical softie whose bark is louder than his bite
might cause trouble for you and end up feeling really bad about it but doesn't know how to apologise because it makes him look "weak"
he's honestly just a child at heart and a lot easier to please than you think (just buy him some ice-cream and he'd be grinning from ear to ear)
seemingly doesn't take things seriously but it's only because he struggles with being vulnerable
is very prideful and might stay up all night perfecting his latte art just because you made a comment about how it sucked
