Belated Supanova write-up: now in list form
Things I remember from Supanova (November, 2011)
- Fabulous cosplay. My favourites, in no particular order:
Alan from The Hangover with baby Carlos
PAC MAN AND HIS LADY GHOST FRIENDS
ALL OF THE DOCTORS. ALL OF THEM. ESPECIALLY EIGHT.
The two Indiana Joneses (is that the right plural form? It is now)
- Kate-and-jam getting The Creep stuck in my head repeatedly throughout the day (and it turning into my personal anthem for the day)
- Wishing for a parasol while dying in the heat (will bring mine next year, I swear)
- Kate's Doctor Who sense, where she just walks into a stall and locates the Doctor Who merch without knowing anything about the stall
- Wearing my "I only date superheroes" shirt and being oblivious to references to it (this is not the first time it has happened; yeah, looking at you 'I'll be your Superman' Red Cross dude, that will not get me to donate blood - MY SENSE OF CIVIL DUTY WILL THOUGH)
- Doing the creep on a dude in the Chris Lloyd autograph line while I was in the Colin Morgan photograph line (he looked like Rory, and I'm 89% sure he wasn't cosplaying)
- GETTING MY GODDAMN PHOTO TAKEN WITH COLIN MORGAN. I thought I was going to throw up on him omg
- Consequently blurting the first thing in my head to him, which was: "My mother is your biggest fan, I swear to god!" (I actually shrieked it at him; I'm surprised he's still smiling in the photo.)
- Telling him the next day that I was from Darwin (technically I am from Darwin, but I am living here now - I know that's what they all mean but I can't lie to Merlin c'mon now)
- Running the other way from people in masks/robots
- Waiting in lines forever (and making friends in all the lines)
- Evanna Lynch is tiny in person, seriously
- Buying River's Sonic Screwdriver (and then driving the boys mad by running around the house, sonicing everything)
the dude sitting in front of me asking about Anastasia. I could've bloody kissed him, no lie.
How he hopped off stage after like the first question, just so he could hear better/be face to face with the question askers
He was basically humble and quick-witted as hell
He is fucking adorable and funny and basically one of the best storytellers ever
"Special relationships" between Merry and Pippin/Dom and Billy
Being drenched in urine-laced water on the set of Master and Commander (I think this is the bit we all lost it)
THE PRANK WAR with the toilet papering of the trailer
Him being one of the most humble and perplexed-at-his-fame guys ever
I think he said something about the koala pooping on him? I remember koalas being mentioned (at least, I hope that's real)
Still adorable and taller than I imagined (everyone's taller than I imagined)
Singing "You're the Voice" to him
That one question. Something along the lines of "How do you think you've inspired generations today with your version of the Arthurian legend" or something like that. BEST. QUESTION. EVER.
Meeting awesome peeps in the line (and consequently losing one of the tumblr urls oh god)
Him spilling his water (awww, the top probably wasn't screwed on properly, I don't think anyone really noticed)
Him being grateful, surprised and humbled by the response/presence Merlin has in Australia
Trying to not spoil us all, self-censoring himself (lol let's be real, a majority of us download but points for trying)
Saying "Tim Tam slam" (lol I found it hilarious for some reason)
