I think of India as a region saturated with colour. The content of my paintings evolved, based on my experience of the Indian reality - the people, the enviroment. My themes are traditionally Indian and nature & environment play an important part in it.The nature of rural Bengal and its vibrant vegetation (flora & fauna) cast a spell on me, and inspired me to bring out softness of nature in its varied froms. Vivid colours and textures of the season, blooming flowers, leaves culminated into a radiant panorama on my canvas. Relied on observation I can feel women’s relationship with her environment.

I have always enjoyed art from an early age. This love of Art has stayed with me and developed and grown, and now, I cannot imagine wanting to do anything else. Making art for me, is an innate response to the inner and outer worlds, and a balancing act between the intuitive and the considered. I am interested in exploring my natural abilities and enthusiasm for my commitment to do an art within my innermost thoughts and emotions. My art is an evolving process, I take and represent only elements which are the essence of the object or of the imaginary being. I rely on my desires for beauty, poetics and seduction.

TWO SISTERS, Suparna Dey

My work style is extension of tradition of Artist like Nandalal Bose, Abanindranath Tagore.The figures that I create are lively and feminine divinity is innately infused.They are portrayed as beautiful and integral parts of nature. The mesmerising pallet of vibrant colours surely make people happy, as there is lot of positivity in this painting.My paintings are refreshing ,there's no morbidity in them. I intentionally done this facial texture of the girl in red saree, to create difference between them, one girl is fair while the other one is dusky complexion.While doing this I took reference from our traditional Ajanta mural painting. I created this texture, by experimenting with natural pigment colour and binder ,it was so satisfying and enhance the look of the painting.

My signature lady series is amazingly divine and breathtakingly beautiful and draws attention for the spectacular colours, texturization and life like appeal of Bengal School of Art. The figures stand out for the details in the handling of line and colour with each figure displaying a grace and flow that is congruous with the milieu they inhabit.Sometimes the figures with innocence and a touch of poetry imparts a dreamlike quality.The vibrant colour I uses, impart a certain energy to each work and at the same time they look contemplative.I brings to life the many faces of women and captured nature in many of its splendid hues through a maze of colours,rhythm and lyricism.The softness and the innate strength of a woman form the core of many of my canvases.There is a narrative element,profusion of colour and certain amount of subtly which is appealing.My paintings have certain vibrancy of colour, lyricism and positive thinking to it which will capture viewer's imagination.The aesthetic appeal of my artwork is unquestionable.My oeuvre deeply reflects my cultural roots,so essential to my art.
