my favorite take on the Hank Green situation was super eyepatch wolf's video on the topic, in which I think he sums up one of the core drives of generative AI usage for creation:
"If I was watching a video essay and I was like, damn, this is the best fucking video essay I've ever seen, I'm having such a good time watching this video. And then someone said to me, 'do you know that parts of this video were written with a large language learning model?' Immediately I would be like, 'oh, I have no interested in this anymore. This is not a communication. This is a piece of productivity software that I have been fooled into thinking is good. And I don't appreciate that. I would much rather go watch an imperfect, jagged, rough creation from an actual person than this thing that exists basically to boost the ego of the person who made it. (...) Why are you making a creative project? Are you making it because you love making it or are you making it because you like the idea of you making it?"
because I think it gets at the core issue of how gen AI "creations" are mainly a way to get the dopamine hit that comes with putting something out into the world and getting reactions from it, while avoiding any of the work that would come into creating it. and the main issue with that, which he also gets into, is that it doesn't make you better at anything other than using AI, which puts you in a vicious cycle. it doesn't free you, it traps you into looking for the validation of adopting the aesthetic of artistry without making art.

FD Signifier put out a video about Sinners (more about how it reflects the nature of black art in the structure of capitalism that informs Hollywood, and Coogler's role in it, than just straight up about the movie itself) and he keeps fucking with his editor(?) by saying 'man, I wish I knew some Irish creators who could expand on this element… oh well! too bad, I don't know any!' and his editor is an Irish guy who keeps stitching himself into screen to go I COULD DO THAT I COULD TALK ABOUT THAT LET ME TALK ABOUT THE IRISH BIT
The Irish guy may or may not actually be his editor? From what I can find, it's Super Eyepatch Wolf, who isn't listed as an editor in any of FD's stuff, but the nature of the interjections suggests they're done by the editor, so like. I don't know. But I still think the bit is funny.
