Rolex official timing partner for superfast car
BANGKOK, Feb 12, 2015:
Rolex, a world leader in luxury watches, is preparing for a record-breaking year in the BLOODHOUND SSC project.
“In 2011, after being chosen as the official timing partner, Rolex has been a part of this unique, high-technology project to design and build a car that will break the 1,609kph (1,000mph) barrier and set a new world land speed record.
“In April last year, we exclusively developed and manufactured two bespoke instruments for the BLOODHOUND SSC which are an analogue speedometer and chronograph, which have been installed in the cockpit of the supersonic car,” Rolex said in a statement today.
“The BLOODHOUND SSC will be fully assembled by mid-2015 and begin testing in the United Kingdom.
“It will then travel to South Africa where it will attempt to break the current world land speed record of 1,227kph,” it said.
