Okay I have to share this with you guys, so I'm from brazil and the image that they put in Dean with their dubbing is so problematic.
Let me start of by saying that is all the company' fault (Wan Marc) they make the majority of the dubbing here in brazil (we speak portuguese).
They made Dean look like this super manly sexist and homophobic dude through all the show! in the video are some examples of it. So the first clip is Dean calling Sully a 'mariquinha' here's the meaning:
is a pejorative term to use against gay people and the fact that Dean didn't say this at all makes me so mad.
than we have the "He was my gay thing" scene (I'll come back to the destiel scene later) and Dean calls him a 'boiola' wich once again is a super ofensive term that homophobes use to call gay people.
in the scene where they were losing the fight with the demons and Dean was fighting with a woman they made Dean look like a fuck*n sexist.
and finally we have the destiel scene and first of all that in the dubbed version Dean rarely calls castiel by cas, wich I think is so messed up cause Dean was the one that created the nickname and it showed how close they were. And once again they changed the whole sentence making Dean look like a total d*ck.
I never really understood why here in brazil people would find so hard to believe that Dean was bi or believe that destiel was canon but now I know that is because of the dubbing, in this version Dean just looks like a total sexist homophobic d*ck and the fact that some people say that those were only jokes makes me feel so disgusted about the social environment of my country.
the company could get seriously in trouble for changing the whole context of the sentence and I really hope they do! Dean is such a amazing human being and he didn't deserve to have his whole image twisted like that.
Idk if this is gonna help change the situation but I really wanted everyone to know and maybe help this get to jensen or misha or jeremy, I really want to see what they have to say.
