Baffled by people being surprised that the self-hating emotionally abused and rejected by the world teenage girl is willing to die for the first person to set her free in her entire life.

She still sees nothing in her future. That’s why she says “IF I had found love sooner—“

IF, MEANING THAT SHE CURRENTLY THINKS IT IS TOO LATE.

But it’s not, that part of her salvation has not been achieved yet. The part where she accepts that she can be saved in every way possible that the manga declares is the true way of being a hero—saving the heart and body.

Toga’s heart was first, her body is next.

The body comes last because she thinks her heart was saved too late. Now it’s time for someone (cough cough Hawks I’m looking at you) to show that saving her physical existence is just as important and that it’s better late than never.

God for fucks sake. Touya gets saved and immediately wants to die. Toga gets saved and is ready to die.

It’s not because “being saved is bad” lmao get real it’s because in Touya’s case it’s too painful to face that he has the people he loves in front of him for the first time in a decade and in Toga’s case it’s simply too good to be true and in the midst of a battle, they see no point in being saved. They haven’t been shown what being saved can do for them.

That’s stage 3.
