Day 6 - Tandem A 2-stage reusable shuttle inspired by the Boeing Space Freighter. One shuttle, loaded with only fuel, acts as a flyback booster for the second.
Been messing around with retro/pulp-style rocket ideas. Started with the one on the left, but I felt like the propellant fraction was way too low, so I switched to the adapted Liberty Ship on the right.
Engines are solid-core conversion drives, which work much like solid-core antimatter rockets. A reactor of mostly tungsten turns all material inside into gamma rays, heating the tungsten, which is cooled by transferring heat to the hydrogen propellant.
More messing around with retro-style rockets, this time exploring SSTO takeoff/landing in an atmosphere. The shuttlecock effect on descent seems to rule out the classic huge tail fins, but I'm trying to go for something similar enough.
