“ wait ! ”
“ hold on, hold on, hold on ! ”
“ jesus, where did you get a sword from ? ”
“ we can explain — ”
a chorus of protests erupted from the girls as they formed a human barricade to prevent the purple haired stranger from moving any closer. they didn’t blame her really. it wasn’t commonplace to be cordial with a demon, and even that was really stretching the terms of their conditions. but the fact of the matter remained, while they did in fact have a seven foot tall demon trailing after them, his presence was needed even when not welcome. the creature from hell didn’t seem particularly bothered by the scene unfolding before him but the girls all remained on edge. they weren’t used to people being able to see him and even less accustomed to being told to move with a sword brandished in their direction.
imani broke out of their line first with her palms out in an attempt to keep the situation under control. “ listen, i know it looks bad. ” she looked over her shoulder nervously before training her attention back on the girl. “ but swear he’s harmless. ” she knew she didn’t sound convincing and was relieved when ada stepped up beside her. she would’ve much rather preferred cecilia’s level-headed presence but the demon was always a touchy subject with her. she flinched when ada bellowed out, her voice echoing in the alley behind the bar. “ even if he wanted to flay us open and eat us, that’s none of your business, is it ? maybe i want to be demon chow. ever thought of that ? ” not the angle imani would have taken. she reached out to grab ada’s arm as if to reign her back, nervously looking between the two.
“ what she means is, maybe we should just go our separate ways …. ”
