White line after white line, the distance between the huntress and her destination diminished, only a couple hours away from South Dakota. Lana hadn’t spoken a word since she’d hung up the phone, and she hadn’t questioned for a second what Dean had asked her to do — she just got into her car and started driving. Perhaps she should have stopped and thought for a moment about how she felt, about what seeing HIM again after all these years would stir up inside her — but she didn’t. And she wasn’t going to. No matter how things ended between them, when it came down to being there for Sam or not...EVERYTHING else would take the backseat. This was no exception.
The petite brunette only let out a deep breath before knocking on Bobby’s door. By what Dean had mentioned over the phone, Sam was in some panic room having a demon blood detox after a relapse, and despite the risk it might involve, he didn’t want him to go through it alone this time. Dean had enough on his plate with demons and Michael to do this himself, plus — one didn’t have to be too clever to notice the brothers weren’t on the best of terms right now. And it was okay, she didn’t expect this to be rainbows and unicorns — Lana just hoped she lived up to the role she’d been given.
The door soon opened up for her, and so the buzzing noise of her thoughts quietened down — the huntress had the odd feeling that she was gonna need every little bit of CLARITY she could get. ❝ Hey, I came as fast as I could — where is he? ❞ Her steps followed Dean’s closely, until they climbed down the stairs to the house’s basement and she saw with her own eyes what he meant to say earlier. There was a big, metallic door at the end of the room, and Sam was right behind it. The sight of him there, imprisoned, stung her heart in ways she didn’t think were possible — at least not anymore. But she should’ve known this visit was gonna be anything but predictable.
❝ I’m going in. Close the door behind me, alright? I’ll call if I need anything. ❞ Lana gave Dean a reassuring last nod, and finally walked inside. Nor the slamming of the door nor her echoed footsteps distracted her from his alluring eyes, his surprised expression — she’d almost forgotten how effortlessly he said everything there was to say without a word. ALMOST. But they had to start somewhere if they wanted the big elephant in the room to go away at some point, so...there went nothing. ❝ Hi, Sam. ❞
