Swap!Esha, just like the original, ends up living on the Surface after a pacifist route. The circumstances of her meeting the cast are just different, same for her dynamics with them.
She also plays the role of the friend who helps this little group of monsters integrate into human society, just with way less enthusiasm than Classic!Esha ~
Trivias and arts ↓
Her signature flower is the blue hydrangea.
Her first contact is with Papyrus, who came into the shop where she works to ask about building a gaming PC… with a pathetic budget. After roasting him a bit, he still managed to get her attention, get along with her, and introduce her to the rest of the cast.
She’s been doing boxing for 7 years : the same amount of time Classic!Esha has been doing belly dance. She’s pretty skilled, but she doesn’t always respect the "boxing honor code", meaning she won’t hesitate to beat the crap out of someone who poked her. And yes, she does have a criminal record…
💙
She’s a tech nerd who loves tinkering and repairing stuff. Game consoles, computers, lighting systems. She acts tough, but if you gently ask her to fix something that matters to you, she’ll do it without asking for anything in return.
She has a workshop at home and an impressive collection of retro consoles.
💙
As seen on her ref, she’s the physically strongest Esha when it comes to raw strength and lifting. She’s the only one who’s this muscular, while the others are either pudgy or average (like Fell!Esha). She’s extremely disciplined with her workouts and boxing training and hates missing a session.
She eventually grew fond of training and jogging with Sans instead of going alone (it took time). She teaches him boxing and coaches him in his routine. Two gym bros, kinda cute…
💙
Esha straight-up rejected Sans's feelings and is the only Esha who’s ever turned him down. Their love is one-sided for a long time, but ends up becoming mutual bit by bit as Esha learns to face her demons, her depression, and all the walls she built around herself to cope with her trauma and protect herself. Sans has been incredibly patient, respectful, and determined. The rest of the cast also plays a huge part in her growth.
Even though she doesn’t smile much and keeps to herself, she actually has a sarcastic, sharp sense of humor. Sometimes even a bit vicious, with a love for pranks (pulling them with Paps). That’s when you’ll actually see her smile. She’s a master of roasting…
💙
She has a really hard time managing her anxiety and sometimes deals with selective mutism.
Esha has pretty poor control over her physical strength… so if you’re lucky enough to get a friendly pat on the back from her, she might just knock the air right out of your lungs. Good luck.
Writing her psychology was emotionally exhausting because Swap!Esha was inspired by a chapter of my life and by the lives of people I care about deeply. Her confidence and her slow rebuilding hit really close to home for me.
“Blue Hydrangea” is Swap!Esha’s official theme song. A shortened & edited version of TOMOSHIBI by DUSTCELL. I've always associated her music with Swap!Esha. I loved syncing the inhale with the build-up right before the aggressive part, and the exhale just before the more emotional, vulnerable moment. I think it fits her really well ! 🎵
Check on Classic!Esha's theme song here !
And Fell!Esha's theme song here !
Stunning illustration by Sthy Roses (Vgen) ✨
All the other Eshas’ theme songs will be presented in the same way and illustrated by the same artist.
Not all of them will be original tracks ! I always go with instinct : if I find an existing music that fits the character perfectly, I’ll use and credit it. If the vibe is too specific, I’ll commission it.
Omg I’m so happy to finally share the main Esha trio since Swap!Esha's post !
I’ve always found the Sans/Red/Blue trio super endearing, mainly because of how wildly different they are in design and personality even though they’re technically the same guy.
It’s fascinating. That’s exactly what inspired me for my trio and the rest of the Main 9~
These three were designed to be a cool trinity in a lot of ways, including the ones shown in the collage. Even down to their color palettes (the glasses colors do mean something), their clothing styles, languages, and body language.
After creating Classic!Esha, the designs and personalities for Fell and Swap were carefully developed. The process was so interesting. They stand out from the 9 because they share something deep and intimate, tied to their past and, most importantly, their choices...
I’m hoping to make a dedicated video that reveals this secret and clears up a lot: about their personalities, but also about how and why Fell!Esha ended up falling into the Underground as a child with a bloody knife in hand (see her intro video here).
Esha is an Undertale OC who’s had to adapt and grow while carrying a lot, just like the other canon characters. The Eshas all stand on their own, with varying levels of struggle, and each will get the chance to grow in their respective environments, whether that’s on the surface or in the Underground.
They’re kind of my Powerpuff Girls, my Cat’s Eye, my HUNTRIX, my Sailor Moon. Yeah... I just love them. 🧡💚💙
