I just have this feeling that Luca would get rock hard over seeing reader take care of Black Betty in any way (I.e. washing her, checking tire pressure, etc.)
Omg this is so it. There's no one else put there that gives a damn as much as he does about Black Betty, so to see you taking such great care of her, he might just lose it.
Everyone's been too busy to give Black Betty a wash that is so desperately needed after the last raid, so Luca takes it upon himself to go out and do it. Only to find you already outside, soapy bucket nearby and washing away. The sun is beating down and everything is gleaming, even you as you try not to get too soaked with water but it is inevitable. He stands and watches you take extra care to the bumper and rims, ensuring no dust, dirt or other debris is left. You're climbing onto the hood to make sure the windshield sparkles and that the roof is spotless.
He's partially embarrassed to be hard at work but he can't take his eyes off of you. His lip gets caught between his teeth as he shamelessly checks out your ass while you're bent over. He gets flustered when you notice him there and call him over for some assistance, and he's more than happy to lend a helping hand.
Protect Her pt. 3 | Dominique Luca x Single-Mom!Reader
Part One | Part Two | Part Three
Summary: with the search for your ex still underway, SWAT ensures your safety by taking every measure possible, even if it means never leaving you alone.
CW: discussions of murder, drug dealing, and stalking, Reader is a single mom, the baby's name is Daisy,
- after some follow up questions, you were allowed to go home, with an escort of course; but after the day you'd had, you were scared to stay there on your own, but you tried you best not to show it.
- luckily, you weren't going to be alone, as Sargent Harrelson and Commander Hicks had decided you were still under their protective custody and therefore, you'd have an officer staying at your apartment until the investigation was finished.
- the first to volunteer was Luca; he'd bonded with you over the last few hours and promised to protect you, so he wasn't going to leave your side until he'd done his job. no one objected.
- he felt a certain level of responsibility taking on that task, not just because it was his job but because he saw how badly your life had been affected by your ex, how scared you were of him, and how you did everything in you power for your young daughter.
- he offered to sleep on the couch and seeing as you had nowhere else to put him and got out some blankets and a pillow for him, setting up the space before he gently took the blankets from you and assured you that he could handle it; you needed to relax and you half joked that you never got to relax.
- not a lot happened as you went about your typical routine after that; you fed Daisy, got her bathed and ready for bed, read to her and kissed her goodnight, then took a shower yourself, and ate a small meal in the kitchen.
- Luca watched you from where he sat on the couch, not sure if he should make small talk or not. despite having been with you most of the day, you were practically a stranger, and likely tired of hearing his voice.
- you hated the silence, though said nothing; you just wanted to curl up in abed and catch some z's before Daisy woke up. so you finished you meal and went to brush your teeth, but before you stepped into thebhall, you turned to Luca and spoke softly,
- "thank you, for everything."
- he looked at you and smiled, "you don't have to thank me."
- "I do. no one's ever stood up to him before," you tell him and sigh, "I was certainly too scared to."
- then you walked to your room and left the door ajar, brushed your teeth in the attached bath, then ensured the baby monitor was on before you turned out the light and went to bed.
- the next morning, you woke up late, too groggy to remember the events of yesterday before you it hit you like a truck and you groaned into your pillow; you laid there for several minutes before realizing the house was so quiet - too quiet.
- you jumped out of bed and rushed across the hall to Daisy's nursery, only to find her not in her crib.
- panic shocked your system and you ran to get your phone, ready to call the police; but as you were just about to hit the call button, you were walking into the living room and stopped, seeing the TV playing a colorful, playful show and Luca was sitting on the couch with your daughter propped up on his knee.
- you breathed a sigh of relief as you remembered the swat officer was there, why he was there a blip in the back of your mind.
- "when did she wake up?" you asked, walking over and sitting with them, taking Daisy from him to calm you racing heart.
- he watched you carefully, "about an hour ago. I don't know if she's sleeping through the night yet, but she sure as hell did last night. yesterday must have tired her out." then he covered his mouth as he realized something, "I'm sorry, I shouldn't cuss in front of her."
- you flash him a small smile, "It's okay, I said a lot worse when I was pregnant. no doubt she heard some of that."
- he chuckled and sat up a little straighter. "well, I hope you don't mind but I changed her and fed her some of the formula from the cabinet. thought you could use the extra sleep."
- "that's more than okay, thank you," you said softly, cutting him off before he could say you didn't have to thank you, "and yes, I'm going to thank you because all you were supposed to do was protect us, everything else, you could have gotten me for."
- he smiled softly and nodded, "fair point, but really, you deserved a break. especially after yesterday."
- you didn't really want to talk about yesterday, so you turned your attention to Daisy and cooed at her. you felt Luca's eyes watching you,, but you tried to ignore it, focusing on your baby.
- as he sat there, Luca could only think about how important it was that he did his job; not just your life, but your daughter's life could be the cost, so he wasn't going to let that happen.
- he stood up and walked over to the window, allowing you some space; he looked outside, wondering what the day would entail. did you have to go to work? was this stint going to endanger your career? he hoped not.
- his thoughts were put on pause when he caught sight of something on the street and he tensed up, closing the curtain; he crossed his arms over his chest and huffed.
- you looked up, "what is it?"
- his face softened as he looked at you and he walked over, crouching in front of you. Daisy squealed and smiled at him, and he smiled at her before looking at you again. "I don't want to freak you out, but your ex replaced his goons outside."
Protect Her pt. 2 | Dominique Luca x Single-Mom!Reader
Part One | Part Two
Summary: you're in a tough spot, but with some reassurance from SWAT, perhaps they could help you.
TW: discussions of drug dealing, murder, and other crimes, single-mom!reader, baby's name is Daisy, discussions of toxic/abusive relationship.
- Luca did everything to keep his word; he stayed with you and Daisy until his team was ready to roll out to find your ex. he promised to come back and that e erything was going to be okay.
- in the meantime, other officers took care of you; another attempted to talk to you about your ex and get more information from you, but you were tight-lipped.
- when Luca and his team returned, they were mostly empty-handed; they found a bunch of packaged drugs at the house you sent them to and it had to be processed and put away, but they didn't find your ex. the house looked to be mostly abandoned.
- before Luca could come back to you, an officer took you to an interrogation room; they offered to take Daisy from you, but you refused to let her out of your sight. you were in there for close to an hour, half aware that there was someone on the other side of the mirrored glass watching; you kind of forgot about that little fact because the mirror kept Daisy occupied, so you held her up to it and let her see herself and made silly faces.
- she was squealing with giggles when Luca walked in with his teammate Deacon, the one you suspected had children of his own.
- they sat down with you and explained what they found at the house, which didn't surprise you: lots of drugs and money. what did surprise you were automatic weapons, which weren't there when you lived there and you explained that to them.
- "he's escalated, obviously," Deacon noted and looked at you, leaning in close. "we need your help to catch him, or more people could get hurt."
- you looked between him and Luca, shrugging. "I already told you everything I know."
- your leg starts bouncing and you tried to cover it up by stopping it, but they heard it. they looked at each other then back to you as you cooed at your daughter, who was going fussy.
- Luca said your name softly and you looked you, "whatever know know, I swear, he won't be able to touch you if you tell us what it is."
- you stared into his blue eyes, his eyes that had been so kind since you met earlier that day, and you could see he was telling the truth; you closed your eyes and took a deep breath.
- "before Daisy was born... he was really upset, like really upset."
- "what about?"
- "a few of his friends got arrested, I don't know why, but he was mad... so mad he said he could kill somebody..."
- you hugged your daughter close and shushed her as she fussed and wriggled in your arms; she could sense you were upset and it made her upset. at this, Luca came around the table and crouched beside your chair, softly talking to Daisy, soothing her, while Deacon continued to ask you questions.
- "had he ever said anything like that before?" he asked, raising an eyebrow.
- you shook your head. "no, never... I mean, he'd say he'd get back at anyone who wronged him, but that time was different... it was scary..."
- you looked at Daisy as Luca entertained her, only for her to reach out for him and you looked at him apologetically, but he didn't seem bothered. he took her from you gently, even though you were a little apprehensive to hand her over; he stood up and walked around the room with her, gently bouncing her as she calmed down.
- "why was he so mad?" Deacon asked.
- you were quiet for a moment, then spoke, "his friends were holding some of his drug suppy for him until some heat died down... but they got arrested for something else before he could get it back."
- "I don't mean for this to sound rude, but how does a nice lady like you end up with a guy like that?" Deacon asked after a moment.
- you were watching Luca and Daisy, not wanting to take your eyes off of her, "I didn't know at first. I wouldn't have gotten with him if I had known... he seemed nice enough when we got together, but when I moved in I started noticing weird things. he'd leave at weird hours, be gone for long periods of time, and he'd bring me expensive gifts at first, but that stopped after a while..."
- "when did you find out it was drug dealing?"
- you finally looked away from your daughter, turning to Deacon with soft, sad eyes, "one day, i think i was living with him for two months at that point, I found a bag of coke and asked him about it, which only mad him angry. he told me to stay out of his stuff and almost hit me..."
- "why not call the cops?"
- "you haven't met him... he's mean, more than mean, and controlling. he gains power over people with charm and threats," you began to explain, pailusong to take a deep breath, "anyone he sells to, he blackmails, and his friends do all his bidding. he's had people beat up before, pretty bad too, but he didn't kill anyone... until now."
- "I don't blame you for being scared of him," Deacon said softly, his face still stern as ever. "he sounds like a real piece of work."
- "I'll say," you mumble, look9ng down at your hands and you picked at your nails, only for a thought to dawn on you, and you looked up again, "i guess he killed those lawyers because of his friends... I mean, that only makes sense, right?"
- Deacon didn't say anything at first, only shared a brief glance with Luca, then looked at you again, "does that seem like something he'd do?"
- "it was a big loss, the supply they had, I mean he was so pissed about it, for months," you told him, getting nervous just thinking about what he did, your stomach doing flips, "he didn't let it go for a while. it was only after I told him I was pregnant that he seemed to forget about it, or at least stop talking about it so much... that was also around the time he started sleeping around, so that probably helped take the edge off."
- "do you know what the supply was? how much was there?"
- " you probably already know he deals in coke and pills," you said, watching Deacon nod slowly, "this was a almost a hundred bricks of coke, at least that's what he said. all lost because 'two idiots' got caught."
- "who are the friends?"
- "I don't know their real names... sorry, but they always have names they go by when making deals," you tell him, looking down again, "the big guy was Bunny."
- "Bunny?"
- "it's supposed to be ironic," you explained, shaking your head. "the other one is called Ghoul."
- Deacon nodded and typed something into his tablet, staying quiet for a moment, then stood up. he could sense you were growing tired, and he didnt blame you; it had been a long day and it wasnt even over yet. "I'm gonna go check something out, you sit tight here."
- you nodded and kept your head down, trying not to think about what would happen to you if your ex knew you were here and what you had told the cops. you didn't even want to think about what you happen to Daisy...
- Luca took a seat, you baby daughter fast asleep and drooling on his chest, her tiny fist holding his shirt tightly. she looked so peaceful, so sweet, and you knew she didn't deserve to be a part of any of this. you'd tried your best to get away from it all for her and it wasn't enough, would anything be enough?
- "how'd you get away?"
- the question shocks you out of your train of thought and you blink, looking at the man sat across from you, then sighing. "I had some help from a co-worker... she facilitated buying my apartment and helped me get a car of my own, and once all of that was set up, I left when it was just Daisy and I. It took some time, but we did it," you leaned over the table and pushed your baby girl's hair out of her face, smiling softly, "we got away."
- Luca watched you, feeling bad that you had gotten into this situation, but he didn't say anything, not yet.
- you sat back, not wanting to disturb your daughter's nap: she looked so comfortable with the man who had been so kind and gentle with the both of you.
Summary: headcanons of Dominique Luca being the sunshine to your grumpy.
CW: grumpy x sunshine trope, detective!reader, mentions of crimes like murder, kidnapping, family annihilation & child death, I swear this is fluff, okay so there is some amgst, lower case intentional, not proofread.
If any of these warnings are trigging to you, please do not read. Take care of yourself first and foremost 💛
- despite his job , Dominique Luca always tried to look on the bright side of life; sure, there were dark times but there couldn't be dark without light - that light was always what he was looking for. so, to say he was a sunshine personality wasn't without reason.
- he always tries to have a smile on his face, but he knows when to get serious; like when he met you, a homicide detective looking for swat's best when a suspect had turned his single murder into a kidnapping.
- you walked in with an air about you that not only spoke business, but alerted everyone around you that you were not there just to play the game - you were there to win it. when around colleagues, you stood with your arms crossed and a stern look on your face; when you faced the suspect after arresting him, your hands were on your hips, drawing attention to your holstered gun as a warning.
- Luca, per usual, wanted to celebrate the arrest and successful rescue of the kidnapped woman, but you were not having it; you rolled your eyes and mentioned the mountain of paperwork sitting on your desk, then promptly left.
- that interaction didn't deter Luca in the slightest because the next time he saw you, he was all smiles and jokes despite you being there to question a man who was on your short list of suspects for a double homicide. you seemed unimpressed by his attitude and everyone felt your icy stare as you didn't even crack a smile at his joke.
- however, you were impressed by him; impressed that after the days he's had to endure as an officer and in swat especially, that he could still show up everyday with that sweet smile on his face. it brought some semblance of hope in the world for you, that not every officer of the law was a hardened person like you'd become; he was still bright eyed like a rookie.
- you're paths didn't cross for a while until you needed help locating a high risk, dangerous pair of suspects; you walked in, got one glance of Luca, and made the comment to Hondo, "I see you still have the golden retriever on your team" with the straightest face in the world.
- for a moment it felt like time had stopped as the team stared at you, then Luca clapped his hands and laughed; he pointed at you and mentioned, "I knew you had a sense of humor, detective." that got a small, blink-and -you'll-miss-it smile out of you.
- from there, the two of you connected and started talking more in your free time, mostly over text; sometimes it was about work, relieving the stress of an investigation by talking about it with someone who wasn't in your precinct helpful - he often even helped you think about a case in a new way; other times, you talked about life in general- hobbies, family, favorite foods and restaurants.
- soon the two of you were so close, it came as no surprise when he asked you; he was honestly surprised you said yes though given your little interest in dating since becoming a detective. you'd shared how it was difficult to not only date while having this job but to be taken seriously when relationships were involved.
- he felt like he'd already understood why you were the grumpy type - the job you both did wasn't exactly easy not happy all the time - but when you finally opened up about the case that turned to into a nearly stone-cold bitch (badass bitch at that), he truly understood. there's always that one case that makes or breaks a cop, that changes who they are fundamentally - you were stronger for it, but at what cost? you'd say for the greater good of the city you swore to protect and serve, others might not but that was their own prerogative.
- after that heart-to-heart, Luca made it his mission to get you to smile at least once a day, which never really worked out - or so he thought.
- he didn't realize he was doing such a great job at being your person until you called him in the middle of the night; "it's bad... really bad, and I just- I need you..."
- he was up and ready to go in mere seconds; he knew you weren't hurt, not physically at least, but he heard it in your voice - your usually strong, determined voice. when he showed up at the crime scene you were at, he saw you standing on the green grass of a cozy looking home now batched in red and blue lights, and cornered off from the rest of the neighborhood with police tape.
- going to you immediately, he saw how shaken up you were; your demeanor was just off: arms crossed over your chest but your head was down to hide the tears welling up in your eyes. he hugged you and told you it was okay, that this wasn't going to break you. you nodded and didn't cry, not because you didn't want to but because you knew with the press and neighbors of the victims around, you couldn't. and either way, you rarely cried, and Luca knew that, so what was so different this time?
- when he asked you that, he wished he could change everything about it the night because your answer hurt his heart and made him angry; "family of six, five found dead inside after one of the children escaped and ran to a neighbor's house to get help... oldest victim was 49, youngest was... 11 months."
- it was a rough case for anyone to take on but it was yours and you vowed to find the psycho who did this; at your side through it all, Luca swore to help you in any way he could - he put in overtime to help you and you couldn't have thanked him enough when you both finally caught the guy a week later.
- that was the moment Luca knew he was the light in your darkness; you could have relied on anyone - your partner, your sargent, literally anyone - but you called him; you needed him to hold you together before you went back into that house; you needed your light.
@passionwillow I saw that you're going through something right now, and I had this idea, so I wrote it up for you 💛
Friends to Lovers Headcanons | Dominique Luca x Fem!Reader
CW: SWAT!reader, age gap, mentioned drug dealing, gun violence, minor injury.
lowercase international. based off of these.
- from the moment you were put on the team, you and Luca clicked; instant friendship. he made you laugh and was a big comfort during the hard times the job brought with it, leading to the point where the two of you could open up to each other more and more, little by little. it was no surprise that you ended up being one of his top contacts in his phone.
- he always has your back when you're both geared up and heading into a situation; as often as possible, his eye is on you. there's nothing the two of you can't handle, which is why the two of you will often be paired together.
- your team and 50 David are always making teasing remarks at the two of you about how close you are; it's always "when are you two gonna make it official?" and "get a room!" he never let's comments like that get to him because you're one of his best friends; it's literally never been a thought in his mind that the two of you could be more than friends, especially because you're younger than him.
- it doesn't dawn on him until one day, when y'all and the team are raiding the house of a suspected meth dealer and it starts with gunfire. you get hit and fall to the ground, but there's too much chaos happening around him to ensure you're okay as Street pulls you out of the line of flying bullets.
- Luca has to turn his attention to the task at hand because he knows it's what's best; it's also ingrained in his being as a third generation swat officer to complete the mission first and foremost. he apprehends the suspect and tries his best to get to you, but he's pulled away to deal with the arrest with Hondo.
- you're sitting on the back of an ambulance getting checked out when he sees you again; his heart is hammering in his chest, blood rushing through his ears, every nerve on edge. he can't breathe a sigh of relief until he can talk to you, hear your voice. as he approaches, he sees the gnarly bruise starting to form on your stomach where your vest caught the bullet.
- he stops short as he watches the paramedic inspect you; his eyes scanning your figure for any other injuries they could have missed. you're wincing but smiling through it, talking to the woman paramedic as if it were a routine check up, and it's in that moment he realizes why his heart nearly stopped back there: he's in love with his best friend.
If you couldn't tell, I'm a totally Swifty. I keep referring to the same inspiration post lol. I thought this was so cute though.
CW: slight angst, mostly fluff, swat!reader.
lower case intentional. inspired from this.
- jealousy looks good on no one and Luca knows this, so when he finds himself getting jealous over seeing you getting close to Rocker, he's surprised; he didn't even realize what it was at first, but he'd get grumpy seeing you go to Rockwr to ask him to spar with you in the ring.
- grumpy Luca is honestly kind of cute because while he's upset, he's not really doing anything about it; he gets tight lipped and folds his arms over his chest. he won't talk about it, even when he does realize what's going on.
- once he does figure it out, he spends time contemplating why he feels jealous; what is it about you spending time with another swat officer that makes him so upset? logically, he knows it's nothing, but he can't just push ot away either...
- he finally breaks when he's alone with you in the locker room, watching you wrap your knuckles for a little one-on-one match with Rocker. Luca is unusually quiet while helping you tape off the bandages and you ask him what's wrong; it's that easy.
- he spills that he doesn't like it so much when you're asking Rocker specifically for training tips and such. why not ask him?
- when you laugh so light hearted, he knows his jealous feelings are for nothing, as he figured. your smile at him and the way you cup his jaw, he feels so secure in your relationship.
- "he's just helping me with my left, babe," you tell him. "but if you wanna do that, just say so."
- he smiles so wide and kisses you, mumbling a promise that you'll have the best left hook when he's done with you. all you can do is laugh.
- when the two of you pass Rocker on the way to the ring, you inform him that he's got the day off. he teases y'all for your lovey dovy sparring sure to come but you ignore him because you're intent of showing Luca how much you appreciate him, even if that means taking a few swings at him.
- given the chance, this man has his arm wrapped around his s/o at all times; his hand is either resting on her hip or waist, holding her close to his body because he loves the closeness.
- he's also a huge hand holder; if he can't have his arm around her, he'll hold her hand. interlocked fingers? say no more!
- little kisses here and there. Luca especially enjoys giving kisses on the head, but aside from that and some pecks on the lips, that's as much as he'll do in public.
- longer kisses are reserved for more private settings; when he can hold her close as he can get, pressing her against his chest as they kiss. he'll mumble against her lips about how he's so lucky to have her.
- those kisses usually turn into something more, so no one is privy to see just how sensual they get; hands on her hips, her hands in his hair, pulling one another closer, chest to chest, until he pulls her onto his lap.
