he wasn’t sure how long was he dozing off in his chair, waking every now and then to check on the man lying in his bed, but at some point a cramp sneaked into the back of his neck, and distracted by trying to rub it out, for a moment it skipped his attention that the strange man began to stir. it was only after his shadow seemed to move in an erratic way when merlin’s attention was drawn back, and knowing gaius still hadn’t come back from seeing the king, he walked to his side carefully.
❛ hello, ❜ he said quietly, trying not to startle him too much as he reached towards the cup of water prepared for when he’d wake up. there was a careful smile on his face as he tried to capture the still hazy gaze of the stranger. ❛ don’t feel alarmed, please —— i don’t mean you any harm. i found you passed out in the forest. . . you had a fever, so i brought you back here to help. gaius —— he’s the court physician, patched you up, but you should drink some water now. ❜
@swellofpity for that time travel thing.
@swellofpity is honestly just incredible. i’ve never seen so much love and depth put into a charles. the care ooc and ic with this character is genuinely unparalleled. i am a huge fan of louise & i know that charles is in brilliant hands portrayal-wise. what a fantastic writer and beautifully written version of the character.
“I understand you have some way of connecting with anothers mind, perhaps seeing deep within the depth. I might need your help with something but I’m not entirely sure if you are capable of it.”
Her heart pounded within her chest as Gamora approached the other, her mind wandering over the many things that were happening. It was strange to be on this planet, the almost primitive realm but she knew it was vital. Thanos was catching up with them all, he was searching for the stones and Gamora KNEW where one of them was hidden. She had been searching for them as his trained daughter, doing all of his bidding but once she found it ... the map, Gamora decided to burn it and NEVER tell him where to go. Perhaps that was signing her own death penalty but Gamora didn’t care, she would die as long as OTHERS were saved.
“I have something hidden in my mind, a location of something very important. I shouldn’t be telling anyone or they too will be at risk ... which I understand I am also placing you in danger by asking this of you. What I want is to lose the memory all together, to know NOTHING so when he asks and pokes he will never get it from me. Are you actually able to do something like that?”

Jubilee finds herself BORED. It’s not that she can’t find something to do, but it’s... she has to put effort into doing something. The next best thing she figures it to bother the Professor. He could do something interesting with her, right?
“ Hey -- Professor X! ”
The young man woke up with a jolt, eyes snapping open as he came to consciousness--already tense and alert despite just waking up. Still aching from the crash but ignoring the pain, Corvus sat himself up on the--bed? He heard a voice off to the side and he immediately looked over in the direction, finding a humanoid--he would’ve automatically assumed Zatarian or Xandarian--hell even one of the pink-skin Kree, but his scans told him otherwise.
Terran? The Ravager stared at the other in confusion, but there was also a tiny bit of curiosity--and paranoia. He had never been to Terra, only some of the other Ravagers and more often than not, most of them tend to exaggerate on the sentient species that occupy the planet. So he was not sure on how these terrans act, let alone what they want to do with him.
Memories of his time with the Kree & the Research Facility was still fresh, still made him reluctant to trust others--the only ones he fully trusts are his captain and the first mate--and both of them are not here.
Not to mention he’s been deprived of his weapons and medical bag, he fought the bubbling of anxiety inside because this isn’t how a newly-made Ravager should act. He’s not a slave anymore, he’s no longer fighting a war. He’s ready to fight when it comes to it--there’s no if, because you’re either ready to fight or you’re ready to die.
Corvus knows what he’s ready for.
@swellofpity + starter.
8. What keeps your muse up at night?
50 oddly specific headcanon asks.
i would say a great number of things keep steve up at night. in volume 5, he’s shown to have nightmares which are very vivid and leave him sweating and screaming out in the night. this was almost used in captain america: the winter solider as the intro. steve was going to have a nightmare about wwii, which would double as a recap to movie goers of the last film, and would be shown waking up in a cold sweat. so steve’s ptsd is something that would keep him up.
but there are other things. steve is a thinker. he spends a lot of time in his own head. so he would absolutely be the type to lay in his bed, staring up at the ceiling, just thinking about everything. that existential dread would settle in and he’d be up all night. but beyond his own inner turmoil, steve would also think about more tactical things like his plans for future altercations with such and such villain group. there’s a reason he has a strategy for just about everything and that’s because he spends so much time running through things in his head. he’s thought up a plan for just about any situation he could think of.
and on a more physical level, steve has an over abundance of energy. he doesn’t need a ton of sleep. there are plenty of times when he’d get in bed and just lay there because he cannot physically make himself sleep. he’s not tired. his body isn’t sending those alerts to his brain to sleep because he just isn’t wired like that anymore. he’d joke that he’s gotten enough sleep in the ice and he doesn’t have to deal with that anymore but it does have a tiny bit of truth to it. steve really only needs about four hours a sleep a night.
